Taliban chief calls for unity against US

The leader of Afghanistan's Taliban fighters has called on people to unite and join them in a holy war against US-led forces in the country.

Mullah Mohammad Omar, in a statement faxed to news organisations in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, said the Taliban would intensify their war against foreign forces.

"The people of Afghanistan and the Taliban should unite against US and allied forces and intensify their jihad against the foreign occupiers," Omar said in the statement.

Taliban officials, contacted and questioned about its veracity over the weekend, said it was genuine.

We're still at war with them too, right? I keep forgetting that! As has, apparently, the MSM... :shrug:

It's going to end up exactly the same way it ended for the Soviets- ten years of getting their asses kicked, then slinking out of the country with absolutely NOTHING gained. Wanna bet?

Hey Omar, how did the Taliban do in last month's elections? Oh yeah, you guys were banned - guess you didn't do so well.
