Republicans Blame Schwarzenegger (hahahahaha)
LOS ANGELES - The across-the-board collapse of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's ballot propositions came down to this: They were ideas with narrow appeal, further damaged by a flat-footed campaign and an unpopular messenger, the governor himself.

And that's just what his fellow Republicans said.

California's celebrity governor was elected in 2003 as a centrist Republican — an essential pedigree in a state that votes reliably Democratic. But by the end of his initiative campaign Tuesday, Schwarzenegger had alienated Democrats and independents and allowed his opponents to paint him as an extremist.

"What was defeated yesterday was a caricature of Arnold Schwarzenegger, not the reality of Arnold Schwarzenegger," Republican consultant Kevin Spillane said Wednesday.

4. Oh yeah, it's the "REALITY" of
the shovelnator girlyman, alright..right back in his face!

Read David Podvin's article on this..it's dead on!

"FEEL THE BURN GIRLYMAN"..

"In the aftermath of the California special election the headlines read, “SCHWARZENEGGER ROUTED”, a most welcome bulletin that for inspirational value ranks a close second to “COULTER DROWNS IN SEWAGE TREATMENT MISHAP”. Yet the most relevant factor is not that He Who Gropes has just been groped. It is the way in which he has been groped that serves as a template for liberal success.

Soon after taking office, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared war on the “special interests”, which from his perspective are the employees who serve the taxpayers. Arnold sued to block changes in the state's nurse-patient staffing ratios that would have improved medical care, and then taunted the nurses that he was “kicking their butts”. The governor also targeted educators and public safety personnel for abuse while promoting ballot initiatives designed to skew political power even further towards his corporate benefactors."

8. what lost was the repubs christofascist agenda from bushco.....
arnold is really a social liberal adapting the republican chamber of commerce agenda because he is a business man first and foremost. As a repub he is obligated to shove the right wing christofascist repub agenda as far as he can shove it.

well it is tough be a social liberal and rob and cheat people politically and reconcile the differences.

arnold comes from the movie set where he is the king of the world, gets what he wants, treats people anyway he chooses. the real world is not a set, sexual abuse does not get overlooked, you cannot call people derogatory names and expect only butt kissing in response.

he is like a spoiled child who gets what he wants and tries shifting tactics to get it.

well that is over now.

10. poor Conan
Conan fought all his life until he became king, only to sit on his throne bored and confused, he only knew how to fight and kill people, skilled in death and mayhem and the glory of spilling blood, not how to govern or help people. The only solution is to start a war with a neighboring king who is equally bored.

22. Thanks to the Nurses, Teachers,
and Firefighters..arnie isn't going to anywhere beyond a couple of years as a sick duck..

"The Woman Behind Arnold's Defeat"

Snip~

"Their activism started last November, after Schwarzenegger suspended key portions of the state's nurse-to-patient ratio to help hospital chains. "That really angered us," says DeMoro. But the nurses protested tentatively, almost timidly, until one pivotal day last December.

While the governor addressed a state convention of 10,000 women, a few nurses unfurled a protest banner that read "Hands Off Patient Ratios." Schwarzenegger grinned for the TV cameras, then said: "Pay no attention...to the special interests. I am always kicking their butts."

DeMoro was outraged. "For the Governor to denigrate nurses -- a historically female profession -- while speaking to an audience of women is an affront to women everywhere," she told CNN. Because Schwarzenegger had shut them out of the health-care debate, the nurses decided to take their case to the streets."

Much more fascinating history..

I read once that he had a problem with her weight and she was expected to be thin and she almost went skeletal at one point. Also, it was widely reported that if his kids didn't put their things away, he tossed them in the garbage. No ifs or buts. I don't know about you, but I would call that an abusive personality.

Sadly, I believe the slack-jawed yokels may re-elect Ahnold because it's "cool to have the Terminator as Governor", but his chances are definitely greatly reduced.

I hope whoever the Dems nominate has a bit of personality.

He is currently the state Treasurer and is one of the people arnie has dismissed with some of his warming names.

20. Schwarzenegger
walks like a caricature, talks like a caricature and acts like a caricature. He drives around this state in a Hummer, calling people names, stinking up the place with his damn cigars and yells "It's judgment day" the night before the election.

He expects people to take him seriously???

Mr. Spillane was probably thrilled that this caricature became governor. Now he's blaming the people for voting based on what we've seen since he's been in office.

31. Arnold is no fool
Anyone who has closely followed his career since his body building start knows that Arnold is an intelligent and canny businessman.

But being a successfull business man does NOT guarantee a success as a politician. You need finesse at cooperation and consensus-building, whereas business men are used to barking orders and controlling their operations.

Personally, I'm delighted to see him fail because the more authority he could gain the more dangerous he was. Unlike *, who is a fool, Arnold has the potential to become a more sinister figure, like Cheney.

With Rob (and, I guess, too many Californians) it wasn't about Arnie's policies or ability to govern.

46. What's German for "rats deserting a sinking ship?"
...Schwarzenegger...alienated Democrats and independents and allowed his opponents to paint him as an extremist.
The Republicans ASSIGNED Schwarzenegger to alienate Democrats and independents and paint THEM as extremists! He thought he could simply duplicate Bush's policies and tactics, but he didn't take into consideration that a) the public is used to them and b) that hurricane Katrina gave a glaring example of how poorly a government small enough to drown in a bathbub works.

Schwarzenegger sucessfully completed the task of torpedoing the Enron settlement. But with his re-destricting initative getting voted down, he has "outlived his usefulness" to the GOP, and they're washing their hands of him. The irony is that if Arnold was promised the 2008 VP slot as a reward, they probably would have changed their minds anyway.
