Mich. AG Releases Voicemail Tied to Claim (Fieger/Cox info)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uslatest/story/0,1282,-5409799,00.html

LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Attorney General Mike Cox released a voicemail Friday of what he says is a threat from an associate of Geoffrey Fieger, the flamboyant attorney who plans to challenge him in 2006.

Cox admitted an extramarital affair Wednesday, saying Fieger's associate threatened to expose the indiscretion unless he stopped investigating his political rival for possible campaign-finance violations.

<snip>

Since March, Cox's office has been looking into a $450,000 television ad campaign that urged viewers to vote against one of the candidates in last year's state Supreme Court race.

It was not until June - seven months after the election - that Fieger filed papers acknowledging he paid for the ads. County clerks say those types of papers should have been filed months earlier.

Sounds more like a Cox set-up to me :eyes:

Drunk guy: "Mr. Feiger wanted me to deliver this threat to you"
Disgraced AG Mike Cox: "Feiger tried to blackmail me".

Here's another one Mike: Mr. Feiger wanted me to tell you that you are a lying disgraced hypocrite who should resign from office immediately. Don't blame me for these words though, they came right from Geoff Feiger.

5. Its not a set up
While I think Cox is a horrible AG and needs to be booted out, trust me, from someone who knows from where she speaks, there is more to this than meets the eye.

2. So tell us about your marital infidelity, Mr. Cox.
Did you see it as a way of "strengthening" the institution of marriage, to fend off those attacks from godless homosexuals? I'm sure your party, the Party of Morality, would highly approve of your extreme measures to "strengthen" marriage by destroying your own.

3. what do you think about the 34000 $
that cox donated to the supreme court justice that started the whole thing. That was in the det. freep this morning. Also it's coming out that o'brian hosted a couple of fund raisers for cox too. There's a lot to this story that we haven't heard of yet.

4. Welcome to DU serban!
Glad to have you here :hi:

Here's a link to the article in the DetFreePress (thanks for the heads up!)

Cox financed judge targeted by Fieger

Attorney General Mike Cox contributed $34,000 from a political action committee to the 2004 campaign of a state Supreme Court justice who became the target that same year of a secret campaign by Geoffrey Fieger to defeat him.

Cox's donation adds a new dimension to the shocker that unfolded this week when Cox claimed Fieger tried to blackmail him to force Cox to halt an investigation of whether Fieger's $457,164 advertising campaign against Justice Stephen Markman violated state campaign finance laws. Cox revealed Wednesday that he had cheated on his wife and said he was forced to reveal the affair because Fieger had threatened to disclose it.

<snip>

O'Brien's relationship to Cox remains somewhat murky. O'Brien's attorney, Vince Colella, said Friday his client had been scheduled to attend a fund-raiser for the attorney general at the Oakland County home of attorney Harold Fried on Oct. 28, two weeks after the date Cox said the alleged blackmail attempt was initiated.

Colella said Cox called O'Brien to ask him not to attend.

Stranger and stranger it gets :eyes:

6. O'Brien (otherwise known as leo)

A regular fixture and daily visitor at Fieger's office. If you look back at Detroit News/Free Press articles regarding the Nathanial Abraham trial, you will see a picture of Lee O'Brien at counsel table with Feiger. I wish this fact would get leaked to the press. Any reporter would be able to dig up the info by going into the newspaper's archives.

I think both Cox and Fieger are wrong for Michigan. Neither one of them should be AG. The democratic party wants NOTHING to do with Fieger.... He certainly won't help our cause!

7. I like Fieger!
I think he will make a GREAT AG!
He pulverize DeVos's Amway and maybe take down Blackwater Security while he's at it!
He had a wonderful radio show here in Detroit after his battle against Engler.
He's smart and he's on OUR TEAM.

10. Hi.
No offense, but English is my first language and I really only have a poor mastery of my second language (Spanish).

So... a supreme court justice started Cox's extramarital affair. Boy, those supreme court justices, who'd have thought that under those black robes they are just party animals!

12. Hey kids, this is right on time.
It takes the spotlight off the Dertoit mayoral election. And, it gives Kwame and Jennifer time to kiss and make up, else we go into next year getting beat by SCAMWAY and the 3rd world nation bunch.

Let's let this play itself out, because I think all will come out in our favor. If you don't believe me...fine.

Look, Cox is a cock, and Fieger is not the guy I wanna drink with after a gig. But, Fieger has one thing you and I haven't got: A CAN OF WHOOPASS! All this shit about O'brien is just that: SHIT!

Lee, or Leo, has a rap sheet longer than Mr. Wad's member, and Fieger is not stupid enough to use this dude as 007. Give me a break! As for Fieger as AG, I could really care. What I care about is how we go into next year and take at least on of the bodies in the state house back.
