Newsview: Bush Revisits Campaign Playbook
WASHINGTON (AP) -

President Bush seems to be turning the clock back to Election Day 2004, parrying with ex-rival John Kerry and harshly questioning his critics' commitment to U.S. troops.

You can't blame him for being nostalgic for better political times, when most Americans felt he was a strong, honest leader and gave him the benefit of the doubt on Iraq.

That's certainly not the sentiment these days. With his approval ratings plunging, even some Republican leaders are showing signs of abandoning Bush's listing ship.

"Mistakes were made," Republican Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania said Friday of the war effort.

1. this is why bush can't recover... he's never done this before:
Still, it's highly unusual for a re-elected president to go after his fallen rival. It shows just how grim things are for Bush. Two crucial pillars of his presidency - perceptions of his honesty and faith in his ability to fight terrorism - have crumbled. An AP-Ipsos poll shows that almost six in 10 Americans say Bush is not honest, and a similar amount disapprove of his handling of the war on terrorism.

remember, during his first term, he never mentioned Gore's name, NOT ONCE. i watched for this... it was completely amazing. now bush is talking like he's actually running against Kerry... it's very strange!

10. When I lurk on the conservative blogs, they are still obsessed
with Kerry, and deride him constantly. My theory is that Kerry scared
the crap out of them, and they have never recovered.

In the debates he was more presidential than the president. Go figure...

11. Agreed. Kerry DID scare them
He was a strong opponent (and a decent person) - hence that extreme swiftboating effort.

3. This POS was never honest or tough. It was all a facade.
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 06:06 PM by pinniped
His W stands for Wimp.

You can't blame the turd, this POS doesn't even know what day it is when he wakes up. Excessive drinking and lines have been known to have that effect on people.

--..."I wish President * knew better than to dishonor America's veterans by playing the politics of fear and smear on a Veterans Day tribute ... ," said Kerry,...--

5.  R. Santorum, deep philosopher. A true thinker.
Did you just wake up, Rick? Or were you too busy playing Mr Goody- two-shoes? George is going down the drain and so are you.

9. Campaign Playbook? He spoke at packed events of Loyal Oath taking
numbnutts, It has never been normal, from His selection by the USSC to date. NOTHING.

But I do agree, the move by this administration to pull up arguments from a passed election campaign is a sign of weakness, they are clearly on the defensive.
