Bush Social Security Plan Laid to Rest

Those slimy repukes tried to end run and privitaize social security. However, in another move that made me proud to be a democrat, it was pushed down and according to the headline, laid to rest. I hope that a silver dagger was used to drive through its heart.

WASHINGTON -- The Senate staged sparsely attended burial services Tuesday for President Bush's long-dead plan to remake Social Security through creation of personal accounts. Metaphors outnumbered mourners.

Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., said every attempt to reach across party lines on Social Security had "met with a partisan obstructionism that is as rock-solid as the marble before me on the rostrum" in the Senate chamber.

Initially, he said the president and Republican supporters "tried to throw the long ball." Now, "we're just going to try to run off-tackle here ... to see if we can get the ball down the field."

But confronted with near-unanimous Democratic opposition and polls showing voter unhappiness with Bush's proposals, Republicans flinched. Legislation failed to reach the floor of either the House or Senate.

Last evening, he was on the floor of the Senate talking about his bill, called the Social Security Guarantee Act. Max Bacus called him on it and said it was a fraud, a phoney, and a gimmick. Then Jim DeMint from South Carolina took the floor (I believe he is Santorum's co-sponsor) and sang the bill's praises. These F**kheads just won't give up.

I'm skeptical too. The evil rethugs will never quit till they get what they want! The bastards!!! :puke:

I will celebrate when they are all incarcerated and the GOP is a permanent fringe minority again.

That's why I got into politics in 2000 in the first place was to fight for the future of Social Security..something told me if I wanted it there for us I should get active..

Well, this has gone way beyond SS but I'm so glad to see, for now at least, that the fascist corporate jerkoffs have retreated.
