Senate Considers $60 Billion in Tax Cuts
WASHINGTON (AP) - Tax reductions of about $60 billion being considered by the Senate highlight internal divisions between Republican moderates trying to restrain budget deficits and others pressing ahead with tax cuts.

The tax bill makes many Republicans unhappy because it omits a top priority for the GOP - a two-year extension of reduced taxes on capital gains and dividends.

"It's almost as bad as it is good," Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., said of the $60 billion package that the Senate planned to debate Wednesday.

1. "Senate Considers Adding $60 Billion More To The National Debt
By Cutting Taxes". Alternatively the title of that article could be "SOOOOEEEEEE"

Let's just call it what it is.

3. more red-ink republicans - too bad the bankruptcy bill
doesn't include provisions for lawmakers and administration officials who pass and enact laws and policies that push the federal govt further and further into debt - any other organization (individual, family, nonprofit, or for profit) would be in bankruptcy already.

4. this cuts revenue far more than the spending cuts on the poor
via foodstamps, medicaid, student loans, heating assistance etc. that they are also considering to "cut the deficits." Rather belies the motive of those other cuts as being to cut the deficit created by additional spending for hurricane victims /emergency spending in the wake of Katrina. Instead demonstrates clearly how the modern GOP daily is involved in class warfare against everyone but the most wealthy and priviledged in this country.

5. Republican tax cuts put America at risk of terrorist attacks!
Democrats should say something like that and add a quote about troops being underpaid and without armor because of Republican tax cuts.

Use the word "terrorism" against the Republicans like Bush tries to use it against all Americans. Republicans are taking money away from the military and the U.S. government while we are at war. Bush tries using "terrorism" all of the time.
