Radio host fired for anti-Islam remark on-air in Boston
Radio host fired for anti-Islam remark on-air in Boston

November 16, 2005
BOSTON -- A conservative radio host who was fired by a Washington station after he called Islam ''a terrorist organization'' is hosting a new radio show in Boston.

Michael Graham was fired in August by WMAL-AM because he refused to apologize for saying ''We are at war with a terrorist organization named Islam,'' on-air after the London subway bombings.

''I stand by it,'' Graham, 42, told the Boston Herald on Monday.

The former standup comedian and GOP political consult took over Monday as WTKK-FM's afternoon drive host after a two-week tryout, replacing Jay Severin

2. These people never actually go away
They get fired from one radio station, or TV station or newspaper and there is always someone else waiting in the wings to sign them up. Often times the fired personality is able to market himself as an oppressed victim, who "speaks the truth" and who speaks for the "common man" and hence, "needs to be heard". And alas, it has worked out this way once again.

These guys just repeat the same talking points, and once in a while one of them forgets to hedge or qualify their real thoughts, he's fired, he goes to a different set of stations, and another version takes his place.

4. The conservative movement in America is a terrorist organization
They have slaughtered hundreds of thousands of innocent people just to bully the rest of the world into obeying and worshipping them. They should be arrested without charge and tortured in secret bases, to ensure the safety of the world.

7. Oh how nice
condemn a whole religion because of the actions of a few who many Muslims feel are NOT following the precepts of the Faith. Wonder what this bozo would say if someone said, "Timothy McVeigh was an American terrrorist belonging to that terrorist group called Christianity."???? This fellow represents an element of the rw that I feel really thinks Islam should be taken down and all its followers converted. Don't they realize that that attitude is playing right into the hands of al Qaeda? I guess nutcases support each other, but sadly innocents get caught in the middle.

that Detroit, MI was full of Isamic people and it was scary, them walking around with all their "garb" and being terrorists. I jumped on her immediately and said, you've got to be kidding me. They're not terrorist, they want to live in peace. The biggest terrorist is in DC. And what about Timoth McVeigh and that David guy in Waco, TX. They were all white christian guys.

Idiots. Idiots. What is wrong with people!? I tell you: they listen to these hateful twerps on the radio and TV and just roll along like fools.

Hideous asshat Graham will last about one month. WTTK alternated graham with that gigunda asshat monica crowely for a while... woo it was tough to decide which was more hideous. Between them and NPR's decline into stenography the decision to reduce the afternoon commute tedium by going to sirius was a no-brainer.

12. Same guy who said he wanted to bludgeon Hillary Clinton with a tire iron:
A blast from the past from the DU Conservative Idiots archive:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/top10/03/110.html

#5: But it looks like Republican radio talk show host Michael Graham has come up with the best solution for dealing with Democrats which irritate him. Appearing on Hardball last week, he discussed the topic of Hillary Clinton's recent speech on patriotism with Chris Matthews. Here's Graham's novel response to Clinton's speech: "Anyone listening to Hillary Rodham in her speech last week about patriotism, that screaming, screeching fingernail, I wanted to bludgeon her with a tire iron. That's what I wanted to do." Ah, compassionate conservatism at its finest. Democrats not bowing and scraping enough? Call them terrorists. Democrats saying something you don't like? Bludgeon them with tire irons. So much for the old "conservatives argue with facts, liberals argue with emotions" fallacy. Welcome to the 21st Century GOP, where a good beating is the remedy for what ails America. Oh, and just in case anyone's interested, Chris Matthews' response to Graham's disgraceful and irresponsible statement was, "Michael Graham, it was great having you joining us." Way to go, Chris.

19. Juan Cole
has an inspired dissection of an anti muslim op ed in the LA Times by some bigot called Dennis Prager which also equated islam with terrorism (obviously less offensive to the proprietor than Robert Scheer's articles).

I suppose it is too much to hope that Prager will be given his marching orders, any more than Bill O'Reilly will.

26. Prager is a radio talk show host
He used to be either non political or down the middle. He concerned himself with more societal type stuff and some "good old days" stuff. I only know of him because Snyder used to have him on from time to time.

Prager seems to have been drawn into the RW radio screeching howler monkey format. It pays apparently.

But be fair. Authors of statements such as "Opus Dei is a terrorist organization", or implying or asserting that any other Xian or Buddhist or Taoist or animist group provokes or incites violence should receive the same response. The occasional twisted member of a sect or faith shouldn't be the basis for asserting some sort moral miasma covers all the members, or the doctrine as such.

Vilifying a religion for the transgressions of those that obviously are unrelated to it shouldn't be allowed in a society that values free speech and freedom of religion.

O'Reilly: "You can have a militia that's a rainbow coalition, armed with spatulas"

Media Matters also has Keith Olbermann interviewing a critic of O'Reilly:

San Francisco supervisor to Olbermann: Fox should "terminate Bill O'Reilly's employment"

On the November 15 edition of MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann, Chris Daly, a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, said Fox News host Bill O'Reilly should be fired for his remarks regarding the recent passage of Proposition I, a ballot initiative urging public schools and colleges to prohibit military recruitment on campuses. As Media Matters for America has documented, O'Reilly criticized the ballot measure on the November 8 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, The Radio Factor with Bill O'Reilly, saying, "f Al Qaeda comes in here and blows you up, we're not going to do anything about it. We're going to say, look, every other place in America is off-limits to you except San Francisco...
