(Conservative) Institute urges cities to map out family roles
Edited on Wed Nov-23-05 10:16 AM by Thom Little
By Lori Buttars
Salt Lake Tribune
Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005

A Utah-based conservative group is asking cities and counties across the state to put a "family filter" on their policymaking.

In a letter mailed last month, Paul T. Mero, president of the Sutherland Institute, urges mayors and council members to pass a nonbinding resolution sanctioning the "natural family as the fundamental unit of society."

Mero even provides a sample resolution for elected officials to use in their official proclamations.

The document calls for cities to "envision a local culture" that:
* "Upholds the marriage of a woman to a man, and a man to a woman, as ordained of God."
* "Celebrates the marital sexual union as the unique source of new human life."
* "Sees our homes as open to a full quiver of children."
* "Envisions young women growing into wives, homemakers and mothers; and . . . young men growing into husbands, home builders and fathers."

It's like a word from the 15th Century. I think that phrase is actually from the King James Version of the Bible.

9. Talk about not being able to read the writing on the wall
And this is what really bothers me about the state of the union these days. The world is in a rapid state of change and those who don't move along with change, get left behind.

At the rate we are going someday we will attain the status of third world nation.

They need to get their heads from their arses and realize that the Constitution does not advocate intrusion.

30. A quiver is defined
by the number of kids a woman can have before her uterus falls out. It can vary from woman to woman.

What are kids, weapons of war or something? Obviously these nutcases think that the whole point of marriage is to breed insanely, pop out as many kids as possible to become cannon fodder.

WHERE's A GODDAMNED "FUCK YOU" SMILEY WHEN YOU NEED ONE!!!!

Oh lovely, back into the home only, where men can be in control once again.

Well, Mr. Paul T. Mero, I envision a world in which young women can grow into wives, homemakers, mothers, astronauts, presidents, powerline workers, teachers, doctors, tile installers, realtors, soldiers, pilots, cheesemakers, loan officers, florists, social workers, mechanics, plumbers, secretaries, corporate executives, etc, etc, etc....

I like my world MUCH better!

43. They're terrified of change.
The world is moving faster all the time, & they're afraid of being left behind, so they're trying to drag all of us back to their level.

Things were so much EASIER when the man brought home the bacon, the woman stayed home, cooked & cleaned & raised kids, & the children followed suit. Boys played sports & girls played with dolls. Everyone went to the same church. Life was predictable.

You had your role & were assigned to it. You never met anyone who wasn't just like you. It's not like that anymore, & these people can't handle it.

16. "Full Quiver" is from Psalm 127
Edited on Wed Nov-23-05 11:07 AM by Bridget Burke
1: Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2: It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
3: Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4: As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5: Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

The military value of the children is emphasized.

I have nothing against families, but they come in all shapes and sizes. My gay friends who recently adopted a little boy are just as much a part of what constitutes family life as this group's ah...quivering, docile, door-mat women and their litters.

21. gag me
allow me to introduce my new meme:

Certitude is not equal to Reality. (using the mathematical not-equal-to sign, which I don't know how to type here)

And these dips certainly are clueless as to Reality. Quivering children, indeed. And where are the jobs that allow Daddy to be the sole income earner? Do they want those huge families to live on the earnings from one minimum wage job? All their corporate buddies have destroyed the possibility of living on one income, especially at or near minimum wage. And who will pay the taxes or tithes to support the extra children? Or are they supposed to starve after they are born?

I wish I could find the study. Anyway, a major factor in the attractiveness of cities as places to live, work, and locate a business in openness to GLBT people. We make it better.

Pluck my daughter from my full quiver of children.

Me: Little susie, your mother told me that you wanted to be a doctor?
Susie: Yes, daddy, a surgeon.
Me: Oh Susie, our city recently passed a resolution that states your little girl brain and hands make you unfit to be a surgeon. Why, the closest you'll ever come to a operating room is when you spit out your 15th baby.
Susie: yes, daddy.
Me: Now, tell your mother to put her shoes on and bring me some meatloaf and a blowjob.
