Bush Official's Plane Makes Emergency Stop
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A small, twin-engine plane carrying White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card made an emergency landing in Nashville Saturday after smoke began pouring into the cockpit, officials said.

Card and 12 others on board were not injured when the Gulfstream 4 plane bound for Washington landed at the Nashville International Airport around 4 p.m., said Lynne Lowrance, an airport spokeswoman.

"They thought they could be having some trouble with the Avionics instruments but they weren't sure what was causing the smoke," Lowrance said.

1. Hmmm, wonder who the others were?
I'm really no conspiracy nut, so this could have been just a thing that happens all the time with smaller aircraft, but I wonder who was traveling with Ancy Card?

Plane carrying White House Chief of Staff makes emergency landing

The Associated Press

A small, twin-engine plane carrying White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card made an emergency landing in Nashville on Saturday after smoke began pouring into the cockpit, officials said.

Card, a Holbrook, Mass. native and former Massachusetts lawmaker, and 12 others on board were not injured when the Gulfstream 4 plane bound for Washington landed at the Nashville International Airport around 4 p.m., said Lynne Lowrance, an airport spokeswoman.

"They thought they could be having some trouble with the Avionics instruments but they weren't sure what was causing the smoke," Lowrance said.

The plane left Texas, where Card has been meeting with President Bush at his ranch in Crawford, White House spokesman Ken Lisaius said.

it's still a twin-engine plane, according to my husband, an aviation guy.

48. competitive and probably intermittently confrontational since...
the whole Plame thing blew up in their faces. Card is on record as far back as when the hulking Amazon woman, Karen Hughes left the WH the first time, that he bemoaned the loss of "counter" to Rove. Apparently, Rove has placed the debaucle with the Meiers nomination directly at Card's feet as well.

26. It could be that Card was supposed to be the fall guy
Their fabricated Woodward story has to have the leaker as someone other than bush* or dick, and Card seems a likely choice. Maybe BFEE is not so sure that he will be a "good soldier".

22. Card seems implicated in the Plame case.
Someone might have thought life would go more smoothly, if Card wasn't around to be subpoenaed.

Or, it was just one of those random things. Take your pick.

37. Card, the whisper in Chimp's ear guy

on 911.

He really knows the real truth.

He sure knew how to keep Chimp in his chair with the Pet Book that day.

I've always wondered what he did say to Chimp.

He should have said, "Mr. President, for the safety of everyone in the room, get your ass up immediately, say goodbye and get out NOW"

Card = "The Man Who Knows Too Much"

49. Yep
If there was any single incident to put Card's life on the line
it would be his presence with GWB on 9/11.

Even if he didn't know exactly what was going down, he would know
very well that the usual tried & tested procedures were *not* being
followed ... Card is sentient and is more than capable of recognising
the "extraordinary coincidences" of that day as well as the benefits
to his master that swiftly followed.

Maybe this was a little reminder that an explosive device is just as
easy to sneak on board as a smoke device ...

Wellstone's was odd. Carnahan. It's just strange that Bush enemies never die in car crashes. Always small planes. And aren't planes supposed to be safer than cars?

30. Both killed during campaigns, too late for another Democrat to have
a decent chance organizing his/her own campaign as a replacement for the killed Senate campaigners.

There was another Missouri Democratic candidate killed in his plane during his campaign, too:
Carnahan was the second Missouri politician to die in a small plane crash. The first was Democratic Representative Jerry Litton, whose plane crashed the night he won the Democratic nomination for senate in 1976. His Republican opponent ultimately captured the seat from his successor in November.

NOW, the OFFICIAL BUSH PLANE starts smokin'...DAMN that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi! DAMN HIM!

I think it's time to appoint McBain as the OFFICIAL bodyguard to the Emperor. The rules have CHANGED, Stretch! We've got to take the fight to the TERRA-ists, rather than fight it on our own shores!
