Marble chunk falls from Supreme Court facade

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A basketball-sized piece of marble moulding fell from the facade over the entrance to the Supreme Court, landing on the steps near visitors waiting to enter the building.

No one was injured when the stone fell.

The marble was part of the dentil moulding that serves as a frame for the frieze of statues atop the court's main entrance.

A group of visitors had just entered the building and had passed under the frieze when the stone fell at 9:30 a.m. ET.

Uuummmm, no. It's a piece of Vermont marble from the dentil molding around the inside of the trianglar pediment, the third piece of dentil molding from top portion to be exact on the right-side (facing the building), above the allegorical figure "Authority." See photo and description of same from SCOTUS official website:

No one was injured when the stone fell. The marble was part of the dentil that serves as a frame for sculptural figures. The piece that fell was over the figures, near the peak of the building, and to the right of the figure of Liberty, who has the scales of justice on her lap.

A group of visitors had just entered the building and had passed under the pediment when the stone fell at 9:30 a.m. EST.

22. This is EERILY SIGNIFICANT
From another source: The marble was above the inscription near the top of the building saying, "Equal Justice Under Law" and above the allegorical figure representing "Order," one of nine sculptured figures on the pediment.

I guess we can kiss Equal Justice and Order goodbye???

36. No, the Vermont marble from the dentil molding was above the
allegorical figure "Authority" not "Order." See DU post #34 which depicts a photo (and description) from the official website of SCOTUS. I noted, too, that AP and Reuters were incorrectly reporting the wrong allegorical figure on the pediment.

In ancient Rome or Greece, they would have taken this as an unfavorable sign from the Gods.

I take it as sanity trying send us a clue.
