Sunni politicians, bodyguard killed in Iraq


BAGHDAD, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Two Sunni Arab politicians and their bodyguard were shot dead while driving in western Baghdad on Monday, members of their party said.

Iyad Alizi and Ali Hussein died when gunmen opened fire on their car as they drove near Abu Ghraib in the west of the Iraqi capital, in what appeared to be a politically motivated attack ahead of Dec. 15 elections.

Alizi and Hussein were both members of the Iraqi Islamic Party. Alizi was one of the party's candidates for next month's parliamentary polls.

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani condemned the shooting as an "act of terrorism", saying Alizi was killed only because he was "a good Muslim who rejected violence and terrorism".
