(WA) Prosecutor to take another look at voters (won't go after GOP lies)
Soleto did not "act in good faith" -- she signed 1,944 statements that “under penalty of perjury” that she has “personal knowledge and belief that this person is not qualified to vote, or does not reside at the address given.”

By GREGORY ROBERTS
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTER

A day after the Republicans lost most of their challenges to ballots cast Nov. 8, the King County prosecutor said Tuesday he will move to disenfranchise voters who registered at private mailboxes as the GOP claimed.

"I hope we can remove the partisan bickering from this debate and see that it is not a Republican or Democrat issue," GOP Prosecutor Norm Maleng said.

That may be easier said than done. Democratic County Executive Ron Sims called on Maleng on Tuesday to investigate the lead GOP challenger for perjury in filing wrongful challenges. Maleng demurred.

... In October, county GOP Vice Chairwoman Lori Sotelo challenged the registrations of 1,944 voters, claiming they were registered at private mailboxes and thus had not complied with a state law requiring them to provide a valid residence address. The challenges to voters who cast ballots Nov. 8 were heard by the Canvassing Board; Logan will consider the rest on his own.

... Maleng said he will work to strip from the rolls any voters who falsely list a residence address. That could mean doing more research than Sotelo did, he said. But he won't prosecute Sotelo for perjury. She acted in good faith, withdrawing 178 challenges filed in error, he said.
