Straw quizzes US on 'CIA flights'
30 November 2005

The foreign secretary has written to Washington over claims that the CIA has used EU airports to move suspects to other countries for torture.

Jack Straw said the letter "expressed concern" on behalf of all EU countries and he was waiting for a response.

He spoke after human rights group Liberty urged police to probe allegations that the flights called at British airports.

The US government has said its laws have not been broken.

But it has refused to confirm or deny the existence of "secret prisons" in third countries.

Liberty has called for action within 14 days - or, it has said, it will go to court claiming police aided and abetted kidnap and torture.

Yes, let's go to court Mr. Straw. It's time to put a stop to these criminals.

1. How ironic
The UK is a main hub in the routing of these flights:

"It is alleged at least 12 airports in England and Scotland have been used, with the busiest being Prestwick in Ayrshire where CIA aircraft landed more than 75 times."

but Straw claims that the UK government has no knowledge of them.

What he means is that the UK government really does not want to know about them...

3. Growing UK concern over US 'torture flights'
There is mounting pressure on the United States to explain reports that it used European airports to transport terrorism suspects to other countries for torture.

The group, Liberty, has asked police chiefs across the UK to look into allegations that the flights called at a number of British airports.

It has been reported at least 12 airports in England and Scotland were used by CIA planes, allegedly carrying terror suspects to covert prison camps.

Britain's Foreign Secretary Jack Straw says he has written to Washington about the claims, expressing concern on behalf of all EU countries. He says he is waiting for a reply. The US Government has refused to confirm or deny the existence of secret prisons.

4. Wouldn't doubt it!
Hey, Guantanimo's probably too full of racially-accused "terrorists" (who did nothing wrong).

You know, Bush's got to store all the nations "terrorists" (Arabs, who are not terrorists*) somewhere. I don't doubt it one bit!

* we know who the real terrorists are.

5. Video:security contractors shooting Iraqi civilians.
The video shows private security contractors (aka mercenaries) shooting at Iraqi citizens in Baghdad.

The video, which first appeared on a Web site that has been linked unofficially to Aegis Defense Services -- one of the biggest security companies operating in Iraq -- contained four separate clips, in which security guards open fire with automatic rifles at civilian cars.
