2 Children Die In Fire On Milwaukee's North Side
House Had 6 Non-Working Smoke Detectors

MILWAUKEE -- Two children died in fire Wednesday afternoon in a lower unit of a house at 37th and Brown on Milwaukee's north side.

The children were a 3-year-old boy and his 2-year-old sister.

WISN 12 News reporter Chloe Morroni said the mother was taking nap when the fire started. She escaped but suffered smoke inhalation.

Neighbors heard the mother screaming that her children were inside. They tried, along with two police officers, to rescue the children before firefighters arrived.

4. Add to the space heaters

The number of people who will turn on the burners in the kitchen and the oven in order to heat the house who end up dead from carbon monoxide poisoning.
