Bush asks for jury service delay
A judge in the US state of Texas has agreed to allow President George W Bush to postpone jury service - on the grounds he is busy running the country.

After all... it would interfere with his vacations....

1. And we'd not want him to interrupt his vacations, would we?
After all, he tells us what hard work it is, hard work, he tells us over and over...the poor guy.

Welcome to DU, DT.

3. There's an expression lawyers use, "a skunk in the jury box"
That refers to when the other side has revealed information that cannot be ignored by the jury, even when instructed by the judge to do so, because it has created such a stink, so to speak.

But in this case, if bush were a juror, there would really be a skunk in the jury box. :D

4. I sure wouldn't want this guy on my jury.
He'd be the one falling alseep during the trial and then voting the person guilty regardless of the facts. "Let's FRY 'em up some justice!" he'd say.

5. I've seen better excuses turned down.
There were reports in my state recently of how hard it was to get people to come to Jury Duty. I'm sure everyone will take heed of Bush's great example.

6. In the report I heard this morning, they added that Kerry was
serving on a jury and has been chosen as the foreman. (Who knew??)

So the real President once again faithfully does his duty, while the Commander in Thief gets another postponement.

Oh, look, I found the story:
http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/11/23/kerry.juryduty.ap/

November 23, 2005

Sen. John Kerry's public profile and prosecutorial past didn't spare him from performing that most mundane of civic responsibilities -- jury duty.

Kerry was not only chosen this week to sit on a jury in Suffolk Superior Court, but also was elected foreman.

And I was doing jury duty the same week. I feel special now. :)

14. Another article mentioned how one of the people on that jury
was so impressed with Kerry that she said she was sorry she had voted for Bush. I'll bet if Bush served on a jury there would be 11 more people coming to the same conclusion. That's probably why he wants to delay. He numbers are so low, he can't afford to lose 11 supporters.

23. I think this AGAIN is the exemplary difference between JK and Shrub.
JK "serves" his country, whether in War, or Jury Duty...willingly volunteering "leadership" in both.

Shrub however has consistently throughout life, shunned his military AND jury responsibilty...with a kind of contempt that these 'responsibilities' were somewhat 'beneath him'...did NOT apply to His Royalty.

I was SO proud of JK, and accounts of his Jury leadership...how he impressed other jurors with his instructive and fair leadership qualities. That's my Prez!

13. He'd be refused by any lawyer worth his salt
anyhow. He's too stupid to grasp the facts and would make terrible decisions, as well. AND we'd be paying him $15 a day to sit there and continue to look stupid!

29. I dunno....
"He'd be refused by any lawyer worth his salt"

If I were a defense lawyer for a clearly guilty client who could make a convincing show of coming to Jaysus, I'd want Dubya on the jury.

"AND we'd be paying him $15 a day to sit there and continue to look stupid!"

Would he still get his Presidential salary? If not, at least we'd be paying him a lot less to sit there and continue to look stupid.

16. How coincidental that * gets called, a month after Kerry ?
Knowing what a spoiled little snot bubble George is, and how he despises being 'outdone' - especially by former opponents, the timing of this 'jury summons' makes me go :tinfoilhat: HMMMMMMM ......

26. Don't forget:
last time there were some blank areas on GWB's jury questionnaire, namely the omissions about prior arrests (ie DUI, DWI?)

Let's see how that goes this time around....
