Truth comes out about professor's background (Repuke with fake medals)
December 4, 2005

Truth comes out about professor's background

William C. Bradford has resigned as an associate professor at Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis, effective Jan. 1.

He was featured in this space June 26, when he claimed that a faculty committee had voted against him for tenure.

Bradford, 39, maintained that two left-leaning professors were leading the charge for political reasons. They disliked him because he was an Army veteran who supported the war, he said.

<snip>

After my column ran portraying Bradford as a victim of a politically correct agenda, I was contacted by retired Army Lt. Col. Keith R. Donnelly, a recent law school graduate, West Point graduate and Gulf War veteran.

Donnelly had long been suspicious of Bradford's background, he said. What really piqued his attention was the Silver Star claim -- "it is a pretty high award for valor, and not many were awarded in Desert Storm."

Independently, Donnelly and I requested Bradford's service record from the Army. It showed he was in the Army Reserve from Sept. 30, 1995, to Oct 23, 2001. He was discharged as a second lieutenant. He had no active duty. He was in military intelligence, not infantry. He received no awards.

This story was first posted in the Indiana Forum by izzibeans. I was so incensed about it that I will file a complaint with the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission. I discuss that in izzibeans's thread:

1. I believe there's a thread of commonality here....
whenever you run into types who are
a)loud-mouthed
b)attack us "leftists" relentlessly
c) brag about themselves
d) are bloated, aggressive & arrogant

You can bet they're liars, or at least repubs.

2. And file a complaint with the Indianapolis Star and Gannett
The columnist, in her rush to "support the troops," failed to do the most basic of verification on her story. She should lose her job.

Bradford went on O'Reilly to complain and spread his lies. You would think a serious news organization like FOX would do a simple background check before allowing this prevaricator on the air.

Bill Bradford: a REAL Scholar & a REAL Native American
Oct 17 2005 10:37 AM

By DutchMartin

While Ward Churchill is an intellectual sheister who claims American Indian ancestry, Indiana University law professor Bill Bradford is the real deal - and has the academic and cultural pedigree to prove it!

Last month on The O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly was speaking with Indiana University law professor William C. Bradford. This past spring, Prof. Bradford, an untenured associate law professor at IU-Indianapolis, received a poor vote from his colleagues for eventual tenure as well as to retain him as an associate professor for the next three years (he's currently a visiting professor at the College of William and Mary). Despite his stellar academic and scholarly track record, Bradford told O'Reilly that he believes he's being punished for his refusal last winter to sign a petition supporting Colorado University professor Ward Churchill - you know, the pseudo-intellectual who compared the victims of 9/11 to Nazis (calling them "little Eichmanns" who deserved to die).

The contrast between Professor Bradford and Churchill is striking, which makes his treatment by IU all the more disgusting:

  • Churchill is an academic and intellectual sheister who claims Native American ancestry (but can't prove it), while Prof. Bradford is indeed a half-blooded Chiricahua Apache Indian;
  • Churchill has treasonously bashed his country time and again, while Prof. Bradford served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1990-2001, was an adviser to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and served at the War Gaming and Simulation Center;
  • Churchill doesn't even have a PH.D, and if one were to compare academic credentials, he couldn't hold a candle to Bill Bradford (as one can see from his website).
    (snip/...)

So O'Reilly brought on this right-wing idiot to trash Ward Churchill. Ah, ha ha ha.

Ha, ha, ha, etc.

13. Info on Bradford
Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 02:08 PM by LiberalFighter
Lives in Carmel... Gee what is the demographics for that city?

Has only been registered to vote since 2002 but did not vote in 2002 election.

Reading his own personal website gives a different impression of Bradford. Don't know what to make of this person.

It would appear that Bradford is more liberal than conservative based on his website. Need to hear from those that have known Bradford for a longer period of time.

It doesn't help him to go to O'Reilly and others of his ilk. That defines him as on the wrong side.

15. Maybe he has served right-wing causes only recently.Bought off?
This item doesn't sound too well-balanced, from his profile, near the bottom of the page, in "Recent Activities:"
His recent article, "The Duty to Defend Them: A Natural Legal Justification of the Bush Doctrine of Preventative War," will appear in the Notre Dame Law Review.

in his perspective.

Based on his voter registration and his education credentials he is probably not native to Indiana.

27. I think Bradford is as phony as his resume
William C. Bradford joined the faculty in the fall of 2002 after serving from 1994 to 2001 in the U.S. Army infantry. Professor Bradford also served at the War Gaming and Simulation Center, National Defense University, Fort McNair, Virginia, and was an advisor to Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Shalikashvili.

A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law, where he served as project editor of the University of Miami Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif, Professor Bradford is the author of numerous law review articles on international law, the laws of war, and federal Indian law.

I wonder what else he has lied about? I wonder if he plagiarized his work, or cheated in some other manner?

30. This is odd.
The page you linked to, http://www.indylaw.indiana.edu/people/profile.cfm?EmpNum=126 , now says "Sorry, this page is temporarily unavailable." but I've found an older archived version of it where some of the dates are different.
William C. Bradford joined the faculty in the fall of 2002 after serving from 1990 to 2001 in the U.S. Army infantry. Note that the archived version says 1990 to 2001 where your version says 1994 to 2001.

31. I went there today (before my laptop locked up) and the page was gone
The semester is nearly over and Bradford's resignation is effective on January 1st.

The "advisor" to Chairman JCS really gets me. What did he do, write a memo? Heck, by that standard I can refer to myself as advisor to Donald Rumsfeld!

I suspect from reading the article and this man's web site, that he has probably told quite a few lies. He was only caught in the lies about his record. I feel sorry for the students who took his classes and may have even looked up to him.

24. There are a whole lot of these liars out there
probably every war has more liars than real Vets who saw action.

I've encountered lots of Vietnam Vets -- who never were in country -- but claim to be combat veterans.

Mostly the real Vets don't brag -- they will quietly make remarks about seeing action but only if they have to.

Now is this guy really Native American . . . lots of people make up stories about being Native American. Whereas just a generation or two ago people lied about their "dark" relatives (dark Irish, or they tan really well).

29. Update: I am lodging formal complaint against Bradford
He is in violation of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Responsibility, and Indiana's Rules of Professional Conduct (if he is licensed to practice in Indiana).

ABA Model Rules (DR 1-102):

A lawyer shall not... engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation.

http://www.abanet.org/cpr/ethics/mcpr.pdf

It is professional misconduct for a lawyer to... engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation.

Indiana Rules of Court, Pof. Cond. R. 8.4(c)

The ABA lists where to file a complaint:
