Focus on the Family dropping Wells Fargo over gay issues
Focus on the Family, the conservative Christian group based in Colorado Springs, is withdrawing funds from Wells Fargo because of its alleged involvement in "pro-gay" causes.

"Focus on the Family has elected to end its banking relationship with Wells Fargo, motivated primarily by the bank's ongoing efforts to advance the radical homosexual agenda. These efforts are in direct opposition to the underlying principles and purpose of Focus, and thus a decision of conscience had to be made, and a stand taken," said a statement on the Focus Web site.

.......

Chris Hammond, a vice president of business development for Wells Fargo, said the bank provided a $50,000 grant to support the leadership counsel of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, but had not authorized its logo to be used for the Internet fund-raising campaign and did not approve of it. The company did not agree to match contributions as the group advertised, he said.

"That being said, we do support many communities, and we're proud to be a diverse organization," Hammond said. "We're proud of our support of the GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) community."

6. Wells Fargo is my bank . . .
Had been thinking of shopping around to see if I'm getting the best deal in banking as I've been with Wells for almost 20 years. But this is enough to keep me with them forever! Sorry, Dobson. But people in California where Wells started will support them all the more. Fifty thousand dollars?? We're talking billions of dollars in support from the blue state. Once again, you lose.

7. Your bank?
Me too.

Good service and this is an example of fairness in community relations.

14. I switched to them years ago from BofA
I come from a family of Bank of America bankers so it was a pretty shocking thing for me to do. Years ago they announced they would not support the Boy Scouts but after criticism from the right they caved. I was mad and switched to Wells Fargo, being sure to let them know why. This was before the company was bought by that evil corporation back east somewhere--I've heard they're even worse now.

Nice to know I made the right decision.

10. As a former Wells Fargo agent,
I can honestly say that the company is completely non-discriminatory in it's dealings with employees.

I hated the job itself, but the company was great, good benefits too.

11. Cheers for companies/.corporations
who promote TOLERANCE for ALL lifestyles, including gays. My nice worked for a national office supply company. They gave medical benefits to all domestic partners. She covered her live in boyfriend of 10 years, who she did eventually marry, under this when he was laid off from his job. Equally applies to EVERYONE: gay, straight, married or unmarried.

But then these religious wackos don't like ANY lifestyle that isn't a good CHRISTIAN TRADITIONAL(?) MARRIAGE.

and those "good Christians" don't care what the bank does as long as it doesn't grant money to gays.

15. Focus on the Family has steered me in the right direction.
I have been thinking of switching my commercial and personal accounts to another bank. I'm going to talk to Wells Fargo.
