Rice faces growing anger over claims of CIA abductions
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,11069-1904853,00.html

CONDOLEEZZA RICE, the US Secretary of State, will try to dismiss mounting concern over alleged CIA human rights abuses in Europe when she embarks on a four-day tour of the Continent today.

Allegations have been multiplying almost daily that the CIA has operated secret prisons in Eastern Europe and covertly abducted and transported alleged terrorists through Europe. The claims have provoked demands for a response from the US Government.

It is alleged that the CIA runs a secret global abduction and internment operation of suspected terrorists, known as “extraordinary rendition”, which since 2001 has captured about 3,000 people and transported them around the world.

Dr Rice will give a robust defence of America’s actions in response to terrorism. She will tell European leaders that the US does not fly prisoners around the world to be tortured, and that it has respected the sovereignty of all the countries that it has dealt with.

1. I think she'll be in for a rude awakening when she tries to pawn that
bullshit off on the European leaders.

14. She's right about the European leaders
They are already implicated (they have been "cooperating" with the US) and have been turning blind eyes for decades.

Look for human rights organisations and parliamentarians in individual countries to keep up the attacks on these atrocities, not the governments (especially not the UK or German governments).

7. Good one! You made this grumpy old man laugh.
Never forget that dialog between Barbara Boxer and Condi. Boxer was beating condi up pretty good and was calling her a lair indirectly. Just when I thought it was a knock out. Condi comes back and said I take offense that you'd impugn my integrity.

I hope I got it somewhat right!

16. That's pretty much how I remember it.
The funniest part was that Boxer was just reading Condi quotes, and that's how she was "impugning her integrity." IIRC.

4. "I think the memo was entitled ...
'The US determined to fly prisoners around the world to be tortured, without regard to the sovereignty of all the countries that it has dealt with'."

With that said, she will be wisked off to the nearest shoe sale.

5. Rice thought telling them to mind own business would do it.
Gee, she said that IF they were running secret prisons they would be run in compliance with the law, what do they want?

9. Just yesterday the US admitted to doing just that though

So aside from the fact that Rice lies almost every time she opens her mouth and she lies every single time she opens her mouth regarding the Bush Regime -

The claim of respect for the sovereignty of all countries -

Yet the US admits to the ILLEGAL kidnapping and detention of a German national. The man in questions says he was tortured. How is it respect for sovereign nations if you are kidnapping their citizens and holding them in prisons in Afghanistan? or GTMO, for that matter.

From another article:

AP: Report: U.S. admits illegal kidnapping

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=1964871&mesg_id=1965668

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States acknowledged last year that the Central Intelligence Agency had wrongfully imprisoned a German man for five months, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

Al-Masri, a Lebanese-born German national, says he was seized while on vacation in Europe last year and then brought to a U.S. prison in Afghanistan where he was tortured and interrogated for suspected ties to the Al Qaeda terror group.

---

The Post's sources, who would only speak anonymously, said the United States wanted German officials to keep silent because of fears of exposing a covert U.S. program to capture terror suspects abroad and transfer them to other countries.

The CIA declined to comment, as did the U.S. Embassy in Germany, the German interior ministry and the German Embassy in Washington.

She's lying and in the face of evidence to the contrary...

15. yes, (and although the transcript is not out yet so i cannot quote his
exact words) michael Ratner, of the center for constitutional rights, said on the Democracy Now program this morning, that condoleeza's weapon d'jour {weapon of the moment = my words not his} is that she is not saying that the U.S. and CIA are not operating these secret prisons or that they abduct and transport terrorists through out europe. what she is claiming is that this is our fight meaning that europe and the U.S.A. are in this fight together against terrorists.

Bastard Immoral Bitch, No wonder she gets along so well with the bastard bushes.
