U.S. Interrogations Are Saving European Lives, Rice Says
BERLIN, Dec. 5 - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice chastised European leaders on Monday, saying that before they complain about secret jails for terror suspects in European nations, they should realize that interrogations of these suspects have produced information that helped "save European lives."

Her remarks were the Bush administration's official response to the reports of a network of secret detention centers in at least eight European nations, said to house dozens of terror suspects.

At the same time, she denied that the United States has moved suspects to these prisons to allow interrogators to use torture. "The United States," she said, "does not permit, tolerate or condone torture under any circumstances." At another point, she said, "The United States does not transport and has not transported detainees from one country to another for the purpose of interrogation using torture."

Intelligence gathered from these interrogations, she said, "has stopped terrorist attacks and saved innocent lives in Europe as well as the United States." But she declined to offer examples or provide any specific information to support her assertions. She said any information related to the prisons was classified. Ms. Rice did not explicitly confirm the existence of the detention centers, first described in news reports early last month. But acknowledgment of them was implicit in her remarks. Without the debate over the covert jails, there would have been no reason for her statement.

1. The detention centers, which she won't admit exist, save lives.
That's a really trustworthy piece of crap.

Rice is letting Europe know that she doesn't care whether it believes her or not. It isn't even worth a decent lie.

18. Jail The GOP--Save The World!
Think how many lives, how many businesses, yea, even how many nations would be saved if we locked these potential terrorists up before they even got the idea of killing anybody!

I think I could get to like this pre-emptive justice idea! If I were the Justice, of course!

16. Don't you remember?
The London bombings (according to Kilmeade) "work to our advantage."

See, we WANT Europeans to die in terrorist attacks ... just not too many. And not the ones who support the Iraq War.

7. The Black Mamba of the Bush regime!
If you remember your Kill Bill movies, Black Mamba was one of the killers in the film. The difference is that the character played by Uma Thurman was good, while Condi Rice is pure evil.

8. Rice doesn't do a very good job
of speaking out of both sides of her mouth. I don't know how much more convoluted word spinning this country can take. They might as well come right out and admit their fascist leanings. Geo.W has admitted he is a war president, it is common knowledge that we incarcerate people without due process and use torture, truth is the news media is supressed, our elected politicians are corrupt, US citizens have been asked to forgo some freedoms, etc. etc. etc. How do we right these wrongs?

9. Rice can't keep a lie straight for the life of her.
How are Europeans being saved by secret torture prisons if they don't exist? The lives saved by torture is another big lie. If it is true, why did Condiliar decline to provide examples? These folks are not modest when it comes to their meager accomplishments (most of the accomplishments invented to begin with), so what gives in this case?

10. I remember reading about the PNAC's plans.
These people were ready to go, long before 9/11. They were absolutely convinced of their own superiority. Their aggression was laid out on the table. They said the U.S. was going to be the "benevolent Dictator" and sole superpower of the World.

The rest of the World was going to do whatever the U.S. said. And yes, they talked about torture. They were going to do "whatever was necessary" to secure our position.

Make no mistake, the torture is not about "saving lives" or squashing terrorism. It's about the U.S. AS THE SOLE RULER on the planet. Nothing more.

13. Think of all the lives that could be saved if we placed Bushco in detentio
Let's just go arrest them without providing any specific charges and lock them up for a few years. Seems like it's the least we could do to protect the innocent lives that would otherwise be lost if they were left to run free.
