Cheney to Greet Troops Returning From Iraq (gag alert)
WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney, the point man in the administration's counteroffensive against war critics, to greet troops recently back from Iraq as part of a concerted effort to shore up slumping public support for the war.

Cheney was traveling Tuesday to Fort Drum in northern New York to speak at a rally for the Army's 10th Mountain Division and the New York Army National Guard's 42nd Infantry Division.

The Troy, N.Y.-based 42nd Infantry, whose commander oversaw a task force of 24,000 troops in north-central Iraq, had about 3,500 guardsmen return home in November.

The vice president's appearances, which include a rally and a sit-down with troops, are part of a series of speeches by top administration officials intended to spell out U.S. goals in Iraq more clearly in the run-up to Iraq's Dec. 15 elections to pick a permanent government.

"And all the corporate stock holders appreciate your efforts at keeping the (insert racial epithet here) natives under control", he continued.

7. The real question is "Haven't they CAUSED enough suffering already?"
Your troops aren't over there delivering pizzas - they're killing Iraqis by the tens of thousands, committing torture and subjecting an entire nation to the terror of war.

8. MY troops?
If they were MY troops they never would have been ordered to fight this tragic and misbegotten war. The blame for this war falls squarely on the shoulders of the Bush administration. Yes, I know there are many soldiers who blindly support him and gleefully carry out orders of torture and murder, but there are also plenty of soldiers who are just trying to make it back home alive.

9. What's the difference in being
murdered or tortured by someone who is "gleefull" or by someone who is "just trying to make it back"?

Does torture tickle when done by the latter?

15. There are plenty of soldiers and soldier's families right here on DU
who do not support this president, do not agree with this war, and yet the soldiers are doing their duties. There are soldiers over there who are NOT torturing and there are soldiers who are trying to help rebuild the country. I don't think they should have to face Dick Cheney when they come home as a "reward", that is all I'm trying to say.

20. Fort Drum is near Watertown, not Troy.
Watertown is in Jefferson County, in the northern part of New York State. It's about as red as it gets up here. Their congresscritter is one John McHugh (R-NY), who is not quite as moderate as Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY), and they like him that way.

Anyway, you get on I-81 northbound and get off at Exit 48, then follow the signs. Fort Drum is fairly easy to find. You'll need an ID card to get in.

19. Yup, they're HIS little "pawns"
In the World Game of Chess, Cheney moved out the pawns, the ones that are easily expended.

He knew the game was all about Him, and how he could get his hands on the Treasure, the Black Gold which was pulsating just under the hot Iraqi sands.

All for him.

He didn't care about the human lives that were expended for his quest. And that's what led to his downfall. Even in Chess, you take care of your pawns so they don't all get taken. You can actually end up losing the game based on this.

Cheney didn't realize that.

21. they should give him the middle finger salute
Hubby says "I can't believe they are buying into this Vietnam thing again." The last person whom I would wish to be greeted by is The Prince of Darkness Cheney. Going to jail or getting kicked out would be worth flipping him off.
