Castro urges 'fat' Gov. Bush to get fit

TALLAHASSEE - In a recent harangue about how a suspected anti-Cuba terrorist entered the United States, Fidel Castro singled out Gov. Jeb Bush -- and went straight for the gut.

Castro called the governor ''the fat little brother in Florida'' and wondered if Bush had helped Luis Posada Carriles into the country, according to a transcript released Monday of the Nov. 17 address to University of Havana students, who erupted in laughter.

'Forgive me for using the term `fat little brother' '' Castro said. ``It is not a criticism, rather a suggestion that he do some exercises and go on a diet, don't you think? I'm doing this for the gentleman's health.''

The governor's office wouldn't ''dignify this with a response,'' a spokesman said. In an e-mail, Bush declined Monday to discuss Castro's comments, saying questions about it were the product of a ``slow news day.''

22. Castro gave up smoking!
A few years ago, he was filmed at a Havana gathering of cigar aficionados. He was looking trim in uniform--& spoke politely to the fat-cats blowing their money. Of course, they were accompanied by overly-made-up women.

The crowd reminded me of this Diego Rivera mural:

11. can't stand him...never voted for him
BUT I have met him and he isn't fat. He looks fat because he has a double chin, but he is not fat in his physique.

He ACTS like a fatboy, though. And I get to say that because I am most definitely horizontally challenged.

Doesn't exactly tower over him, but you can see the difference in photos, when they're standing next to each other. Yet one more thing for Georgie to feel insecure about!

It's amazing how many photos there are out there, where Georgie somehow manages to stand on stairs, etc., so he appears taller.

I love the part, "I'm doing this for the gentleman's health". Like Jeb would actually take advice from Castro, and actually lose weight.

Pretty damned amusing if you ask me. It makes it hard for the dead serious "commie hating" RW to keep hammering their supposed threat to the US--- when they come off as so humorous (and very aware of the Bushie's insecurities)

the "fat" easily translatable as "fat cat" which is idiomatic for spoiled, silver-spooned brat, who has no meritorious reason to be Florida's leader. . .both Bush brats are all about spoils system, legacies, and corruption.

Castro and Chavez speak from their maturer, proletarian background culled from a worldly, humbling awareness of desperately poor people.

Bushies are the "fat cats" for a fatted, self-indulgent American culture.
