Focus on the Family takes shot at Salazar

Focus on the Family is trying to pick a new fight with Sen. Ken Salazar - this time over the nomination of Samuel Alito to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The political arm for the Colorado Springs-based evangelical Christian group has launched a series of newspaper ads to throw some of Salazar's words back at him.

The ads feature a photograph of Salazar under a large headline: "America deserves better than what we got here." In smaller type, the ad says: "That's a disrespectful thing to say, isn't it? We certainly wouldn't say that about the junior senator from Colorado. But that's exactly what Sen. Salazar said about Samuel Alito."

The ad, which is to appear today in newspapers in Denver and Colorado Springs, touts Alito's credentials and questions the "America deserves better" statement attributed to Salazar in a recent New York Times article about Alito.
