Virginia's Warner wows S.C. Democrats
Virginia Gov. Mark Warner appears to have wrapped up South Carolina's 2008 Democratic presidential primary more than two years before voters will go to the polls and after only his second visit.

Not to mention, Warner hasn't even officially entered the race yet.

But the reception at a state party fundraiser Wednesday night was overwhelmingly supportive of the lame-duck governor, whose political stardom is on the rise after he led his party to victory in Virginia's recent gubernatorial election.

Political observers consider him one of the Democratic front- runners for the White House if he chooses to run.

Democracy at work....in private counsel with the elite. A good precident for potential leaders to set. Of course this is an open secret, but we all like to pretend it doesn't exist. Or we conclude..."hey, they ALL do".

10. This S. Carolinian is NOT wowed!
No DLCer's in 2008. It is time for a TRUE Democrat who cares about labor, the environment, the poor, breaking up the monopolies, and enforcing the laws against the corporation when they break them.

11. When I first heard of Warner, I was excited
Now, if he can win, I'll be happy, and I would vote for him in the general, but right now I am not planning to support him in the primary.

13. 2008 is a long time from now. Let's keep an open mind and also
let's not denigrate our Dems; the alternative has been too devastating.

14. We need a southern democrat
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 07:20 PM by antiblazer
The bottom line is that we need a southern democrat in the presidential election. Democrats have not been competitive in the south. If Warner can at least take Virginia in an election, the democrats would have a much better chance at taking back the White House.

15. Absolutly!! Go Mark!!!
the knee jerk anti-dlc people can support some sure fire loser if they want but Warner is good man with good chance in the general. Let hope the dems don't use knee jerk idological nonsence to nominate some loser or worse yet the celbrity looser Hillery.

16. Well,
Warner is certainly better than Kerry in my opinion. Right now I think Warner is by far the strongest candidate right now. Rated one of the top 5 governors in the country, I think people love him. And nominating a good Democrat that can give us Virgina's electoral votes is VERY tempting, almost irresistible.
