Severe cyclonic storm Fanoos (Cat. 1 hurricane to hit Sri Lanka & India)

Severe cyclonic storm Fanoos is forecast to strike Sri Lanka at about 18:00 GMT on 9 December. Data supplied by the US Navy and Air Force Joint Typhoon Warning Center suggest that the point of landfall will be near 10.4 N, 80.9 E. Fanoos is expected to bring 1-minute maximum sustained winds to the region of around 120 km/hr (74 mph). Wind gusts in the area may be considerably higher.

2. Don't the people of India depend on these storms

for agriculture? Last year in history we learned that one of the reasons that India developed so well was because the monsoons (I'm not sure if this storm is the same thing as monsoons) helps agriculture thrive.

Monsoons are seasonal heavy rains that last for a fairly extended period.
