Man subdued on flight here
Passengers and crew aboard a Northwest Airlines flight last night from Los Angeles to Honolulu overpowered an unruly passenger who threatened a sleeping baby girl, said passengers and officials yesterday.

"I was scared in the plane," said the baby's 30-year-old mother, who would only give her first name of Sheila. "With everything that's happened since Sept. 11, I was hoping that everything was changed. I'm relieved. But I don't know how I'll feel tomorrow. It was a big stress."

About 10 minutes before Flight 91 was preparing to touch down last night in Honolulu, the unidentified 37-year-old Mexican national burst toward the cockpit of the plane and was subdued by four people in the business-class section, according to passengers and the parents of the baby girl, who live in Montreal, Canada.

The man was put in plastic "tough cuff" restraints aboard the plane and detained for the remainder of the flight, said Scott Ishikawa, state Department of Transportation spokesman.

15. the pax "jumped in" after TWO FREAKIN HOURS
this is satisfactory to you? it isn't to me

i hope this is just poor reporting, otherwise i think northwest airlines bungled this one and the pax can't really take much pride in themselves either

letting some nutso stand there w. a telephone cord threatening a sleeping infant for two freakin hours is just not a sign that we have it together in the air

5. If A Person Were

.....to bust there way through a cockpit door they would not need people to subdue them....them doors are engineered to have a sticky feeling to them not to say the saftey bolt tha extends through the backwall of the Flight deck.....

I have a feeling the Flight crew did not have the door secured/locked.

My feeling working in avaiation.......if you pull $hit on a commercial flight you take a big risk of having harm with MEDS or Not!!!....On the ground or not as well.

This dude has a $250K $$$ fine awaiting him not to say prison/probation time....they dont mess around.

13. What about the Republican donor's kid and his fake bomb?
Or Robert Novak, who bitch-slapped a guy on a plane?

Or Tom DeLay who called-in a fake terror threat to track the Democrats' airplane?

Why aren't they in jail?

6. Man subdued on flight here (to Hawaii)

By Dan Nakaso and William Cole

The man was put in plastic "tough cuff" restraints aboard the plane and detained for the remainder of the flight, said Scott Ishikawa, state Department of Transportation spokesman.

"He was threatening to harm somebody else's infant," Ishikawa said. "It took several people to subdue him. We don't have a reason why he allegedly wanted to harm the infant."

11. The plane landed in Honolulu at 6:46 p.m., 15 minutes ahead of schedule.
I thought this line was rather humorous. They even landed ahead of schedule!

14. yeah i don't get this story
i'll be flying this flight soon, i hope they have it together better than they make it sound

as far as the theory that if the flight is threatened, the pax will do something to stop the terrorist from acting, hmm, sounds like the dude was able to continue for a couple hours to make death threats against a baby before anyone decided to act?

not v. reassuring, i expect better from the flight attendants and better from my fellow pax, frankly

i'm going to ask around and see if i can learn more, for some reason, this story has the smell of fish to me
