Intelligent Design Supporter To Run For Wagnon's Seat (Chimps Demeaned)
WIBW News (AP)

A Lawrence Republican who supports intelligent design says he will seek a Kansas Board of Education seat now held by a member who defends evolution.

Alan Detrich, 58, said, "These evolutionists are saying that Jesus was half-chimpanzee..."

Detrich said he wants to challenge Bill Wagnon, a Topeka Democrat whose seat isn't up for election until 2008. Wagnon was one of four board members who voted last month against new science standards that critique evolution using an intelligent design perspective.

The new standards, which treat evolution as a flawed theory, were approved on a five-to-four vote.

7. Not only stupid, but delusional
I'm really, really getting sick of these people trying to impose their religious views on the rest of us, especially when it comes to education. Will they be content when we have no credible education system left? Will they be happy when our schools are so dumbed down that they are the laughing stock of the civilized world?

That was probably a rhetorical question, but yeah, that is exactly their goal. 700 years ago there was no education system. The Church wielded incredible power. The Pope commanded an army and had Kings at his beck and call. Peasants couldn't read the Bible and so depended upon the Church to tell them how to lead their lives. Pat, Jerry and their pals would very much like to see us go back to those days...

An uneducated public is easy to govern...

9. As you surmised
it was a rhetorical question. I suppose that it is in their best interests to have us stop reading, stop informing ourselves, and succumb to the mind numbing reality shows, in lieu of actually having lives ourselves. I cannot, however oblige them in that respect. My own life, as everyday as it may seem to them, is far more absorbing to me than any show on television. It might be boring, and it might be mundane, but at least it is MINE.

I will form my own opinions, and draw my own conclusions; I wish my information to be pre-digested no more than I would wish my food to be.
