Diebold president resigns, evoting woes cited as risk for future
We are making a difference and need to keep the heat on these assholes.

I would still prefer to see them get out of the election business all together, but this is a good start.

This also might be related to a recent story covered by Bradblog:

3. I suspect Diebold HAS to get rid of him.
Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 12:09 PM by superconnected
It's unlikely he's just going to quit that 1.19 million dollar a year job because of public scrutiny, when his board of directors are republican doners that sympathize with his agenda.

I'll bet he got tapped on the shoulder to leave because they didn't want the gov investigating him. It is common in corrupt organizations to start weeding out people who can't hold up in an investigation.

14. Right..."invest in us, but be aware of the possibility that we are a fraud
That way, when we get busted, we are legally ok because we told you that was one of the risks.

9. And last but not least:
Likely involvement of highest-level execs in tampering with election results. Because that's the very only issue here, in spite of all the effort to divert attention toward "technology", "consumers", "competition", "marketplace" and all that good palatable stuff.

11. Their mere admission of worries about their Vapor Voting products
indicates they must be very worried indeed. They probably know some insider stuff about a load of crap coming their way. Very encouraging!

13. God, where to begin?
changes in the company's relationships with customers

Read, customers are Democrats

changes in political, economic or other factors...

Read, the 2006 elections bring Democrats back into power

challenges raised about reliability and security of the company's election systems products, including the risk that such products will not be certified for use or will be decertified;

Read, too many states begin demanding access to the source code.

acceptance of the company's product and technology introductions in the marketplace

By "market place" read, Democrats won't put up with this kind of crap once they're in power again.

I have to agree this is great news. Even Diebold sees the coming change.

that like Republican politicians, he's resigning because someone walked up and told him what they have on him.

Who knows what happened here.

Wonder if he's going to leave the country.

18. It may be wishful thinking on my part, but all the indictments
and scandals being exposed makes me wonder if Kerry isn't doing his Iran-Contra/BCCI investigative mojo beneath the radar.

Even the Fitzgerald thing, someone has to be providing him cover or the right would already be passing around photos of him having sex with a horse or smoking crack.

24. I was thinking something along those lines...
though I admit I didn't see Kerry at the bottom of it. If he were, that would be great--but it's good just as it is.

I begin to think that there are enough career federal employees who have just had ENOUGH. I begin to think those people have decided to actually do their jobs, and to hell with politics.

Proprietary software is unacceptable for the electoral franchise. Hopefully, the Diebold fraud will soon be exposed and we'll put an end to this absurdity...

That's the only reason they'd mention the last three items in bold. They're trying to discount and deflate an announcement that they think is coming. This is simply amazing!
