Rice: Iraqis 'Have Long Way to Go'
Despite Successful Election, U.S. Will Stay

Dec. 16, 2005 — Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice heralded Thursday's Iraqi elections as a success, but said American troops would need to remain in the country until a new government and army were firmly established.

...

"It the election certainly represents a fundamental realization that the Iraqis are going to take control of their future and going to take control of it in a way that is going to be peaceful and based on politics," Rice said in an interview today on "Good Morning America."

Rice, however, said Iraqis "still have a long way to go."

"They've got a long government formulation process ahead of them," she said. "But they also have a difficult security situation. That's why the United States and the coalition are still there. That's why we are training Iraqi security forces."

5. Pathetic that the media whores
still go along with the bullshit about our business there being the training of Iraqi "security" forces and the bald-faced lie about the Iraqi people not being up to the task of controlling their future.

Condi's use of the word "peaceful" is laughable. She's one of the architects of the policy of death and destruction brought to that country by the US, supports the ongoing violence, and won't be happy until every last drop of oil is on that tanker ship that used to bear her name and every Halliburton executive has become rich beyond his wildest dreams sucking from the US government tit.

I won't be happy until Kinda-sleazy's "long way to go" includes a lengthy jail term as a war criminal and profiteer.

7. Iraqi Mission: version 4.0
1.0 WMD - cancelled due to fraud.
2.0 Evil Saddam - mission accomplished, sorry about the war crimes.
3.0 Freemon&Moxy - appears completed - please disregard the security situation.
4.0 Peace and Stability - not 'till the oil runs out.

What happens when the new Iraqi parliament demands that we leave?

11. Probably just having electricity would be nice
for them. Or water. Or maybe, a job that actually pays something.

Don't want to get their expectations up there too high.

14. Rice needs only to appoint Saddam to the task
I seem to remember he and his machine was able to provide those basics, even under the burden of American imposed sanctions.

15. Yes, but Sadaam was on a downhill slide
I think if they had just left him alone he would have just rotted out from the inside.
