FBI arrests reputed mob enforcer in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A reputed mob enforcer who had eluded capture since April when he was indicted along with top figures in the Chicago underworld was arrested Friday, the FBI announced.

Frank ``the German'' Schweihs, 75, was arrested without incident at his apartment in Berea, FBI spokesman David Beyer said.

He was one of two mob figures who were the focus of a nationwide manhunt after being charged in the FBI's Operation Family Secrets case, focusing on long unsolved murders in the Chicago area.

December 16, 2005 - A reputed Chicago mob hitman who has been on the run since April has been captured. Frank "the German" Schweihs was arrested Friday at an apartment in Berea, Kentucky, about 40 miles south of Lexington.

The I-Team has learned that somebody called the FBI in Chicago to report that Schweihs was staying in a very small Kentucky town called Paint Lick. When agents went to the address, Schweihs wasn't there, but it was the home of Schweighs's girlfriend's mother. That was the clue they needed, from mother, to-daughter, to "the German.

Before indictment, Frank Schweihs was living in Florida. He was caught halfway to Chicago.

3. Uh... "hitman" and "boss" are pretty different.
How can an American reporter not know the difference?...

4. If he ran a "crew", he was one of the "bosses".
In the Chicago "outfit", there are many "bosses". If this guy headed up a "crew", he was pretty high up.

6. Berea, The arts and crafts capital of Kentucky. No wonder he
got caught. You go there for quilts or a hand made dulcimer, not to get someone whacked.

8. Frank 'The German' Schweihs Possibly linked to JFK Assassination
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 09:53 PM by PhilipShore
A google search finds at the the The Education Forum > Controversial Issues in History > JFK Assassination, and also Operation Family Secrets, Possible Link to JFK Assassination. The debate has a discussion of Frank 'The German' Schweihs-- being 33 at the time of the JFK Assassination-- and a theory that he alone would have information about it, if he is ever caught by the FBI.

Operation Family Secrets, Possible Link to JFK Assassination

Solving a Mafia murder case is a tall order. Since the early 1900s, more than 1,100 murders have been linked to Mafia activities in Chicago but only 14 people have been convicted in those killings. Soon though, the FBI may be able to resolve dozens of mob hits, many with links to Las Vegas. It's a case that might even shed light on the assassination of a president.

In my humble opinion, anyone who is still alive and who had anything to do (even periphery) with the assassination is not going to talk. The existing system of media manipulation will dictate coverage while that unspoken threat to family members hangs like a dagger poised.

I submit that one of the ghouls involved was Florida resident Frank 'The German' Schweihs who has been connected to the killing of Tony Spilotro and his brother. Schweihs also looks good for the murders of Richard Cain, Allen Dorfman, Charles Nicoletti and an involvement with the brutal slaying of John Roselli.

Schweihs as of late April was on the run from the FBI who want to connect him to some Mob run rackets. If Schweihs can ever be questioned in relation to who ordered the hits on those Mob connected individuals linked to the Kennedy assassination and to where he himself was on the 22nd of November 1963, the thin end of the wedge may present itself. (Schweihs was 33 in 1963)
