PETA CAUGHT killing animals after "rescuing" them from local shelters.
On CNN just now.

How can anybody support these scum I don't know.

Said they were going to find homes for the dogs and cats, agents from the local humane society followed them right after they were given animals. Most didn't survive leaving the parking lot!

This is more than disgusting.

I'm sure they'll have a suitably hand-wringing excuse that somehow relates to evil fat men who eat meat.

Sorry, I'm really no fan of PETA, but this doesn't pass the sniff test.

9. The sniff test? The Sniff Test???
I thought you Skep guys used Occam's Razor, Popper's Postulate, and a big old mailing list!

This also happened some months ago. I think a PeTA worker was caught dumping about 20 ethanized dog carcasses. Of course, there was a Perfectly Reasonable Explanation that wouldn't have been accepted if anyone other than PeTA had done it.

29. Oh yeah, something people like PETA would do. I believe you. *cough*
Yes, PETA in their struggle to save animals would KILL them, for sport and pleasure.

Honey, lemme clue ya, they're not republicans.

They HAVE ethics.

I love animals, but those PETA people seemed just a bit over the top to me. They're outrageous and loud, but it seemed all for show. They just wanted attention.

8. Well, it's not the first time I've heard about this.
Something to do with: keeping animals as pets is a form of enslavement, and being in tune with the souls of animals as they are, they know that dogs and kitties would rather be dead than slaves.

31. Now that is just an ignorant post.

From the "link" you provide:

"And yet PETA is receiving millions, perhaps billions of dollars in donations under the concept that they will do anything and everything in their power to save all animals. I want to know why PETA will not spend the money to save these sick animals, when they talk so much about protecting the rights of these animals?"

It is more than just about the money. It is about the quality of life not just about the quantity of life. Animals are social creatures that deserve social interaction, a lot of care and attention, etc. PETA's budget is growing every year but is still under 30 million dollars. PETA could hire someone at 20K to properly care for a 100 or so animals or they could spend that 20K on animal overpopulation education, billboards, spay and neuter clinics, etc. and prevent the unwanted births of literally thousands of animals and therefore prevent the suffering of thousands of animals. PETA is about education and information, it is about changing the culture. Our county shelter euthanizes well over over 8,000 animals a year, with only 9% of cats adopted and not quite 40% of dogs adupted,

21. That's what it sounds like to me, but...
...if the animals are extremely malnourished or very sick, euthanasia is the most Humane and ethical thing to do. Better than a slow and painful death.

26. Support your local no-destroy shelter
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 02:24 AM by Moochy
I saw the report. It's inevitable that shelters have to euthanize animals which are not adoptable, and for which PETA or whichever organization is providing shelter has insufficient money to provide. I support my local no-kill shelter, but there are still plenty of animals destroyed all the time, and from the CNN report itself, they are destroyed in a much more painful manner. There are horrific killing devices that cost little money per death. Economics is the driving factor.

And your honor, for the record, I eat meat, though I'm not some irrational PETA hater.

oh yeah spay and neuter your pets!

and your republican friends. lol jk

I guess we'll have to re-post in an hour when the CNN night crew gets the story on the website.

25. Most didn't survive leaving the parking lot?
You know how savage PETA animal rights folk can be when they get around helpless, defenseless animals. Like sharks at the scent of blood, they just can't resist tearing them apart limb by limb. PETA's mantra: KILL KILL KILL! IF a PETA person sees a poodle, they will tear that poodle apart limb by limb.

Here is PETA's stance towards euthanasia:
http://www.peta.org/mc/facts.asp

If you like cats and dogs, watch the video at the top of peta.com

If you want to see what PETA is doing "on the ground" to help companion animals here at home: go here: .

http://www.helpinganimals.com/f-nc.asp

I am not saying PETA, HSUS, and other animal rights groups are perfect... but animals are a lot better off because groups like this exist, raising issues and awareness then if they didn't.

Don't try and hide behind your supposed love of animals as the reason you despise PETA. If you truly loved animals you would realize that the amount of suffering the animals face at the hands of the industries of cruelty and human negligence, indifference and abuse are much worse in total than the hypothetical PETA slaughter-mobile full of wolf-like blood-thirsty PETA employees that prey upon animal shelters and rip puppies from the arms of children about to adopt them just so they can rip them limb by limb "before leaving the parking lot."

More than a dozen have called for a link -- immediately.

Turn the TV on if you have CNN. They usually have a 15- to 30-minute cycle of news stories and a 5-minute cycle for their bottom-of-the-screen headline crawl.
