Pain Ray Headed to Iraq?
http://www.defensetech.org/archives/002035.html

It's been talked about for years. But the Pentagon's microwave-like pain ray may finally be headed to Iraq, Inside the Army reports.

Developed by the Air Force, the so-called "Active Denial System" (ADS) fires out milimeter waves -- a sort of cousin of microwaves, in the 95 GHz range. The invisible beams penetrate just a 64th of inch beneath the skin. But that's deep enough to heat up the water inside a person. Which is enough to cause excruciating pain.

Seconds later, people have to run away. And that causes mobs to break up in a hurry. It's no wonder, then, why less-lethal weapon guru Charles "Sid" Heal calls the ray the "Holy Grail of crowd control."

Raytheon has been developing a Humvee-mountable ADS for the Pentagon over the last couple of years, as part of an ACTD, or "advanced concept technology demonstration."

1. Does Bush want the insurgents to be rare, medium or well done?

2. This sounds like long range torture
A comment from the site:

"The issue of exactly how this works is a little complex. The key point is 'nociceptor activation', which means making the little heat-sensor nerve endings in you skin send out a signal.
The 95 GHz frequency heats water, but also works on the protein that the nerves use as a 'thermometer': basically it makes it feel as though you are experiencing extreme heat when you are not. This isn't scary radiation, but it's a bit more subtle than you might think. The effects on someone who can't get out of the beam and experiences intolerable pain for an extended period may be difficult to assess: how do you test for that??"

I guess they could use this for short range torture too. Maybe they already are.

18. They are testing in
Iraq so they can refine it to use on the coming mob at home, which will eventually gather to demand that he be removed from office.

Just a thought.:tinfoilhat:

21. Torture indeed
"The effects on someone who can't get out of the beam and experiences intolerable pain for an extended period may be difficult to assess: how do you test for that??"

The same way you test for PTSD, cause the effect will more than likely be psychologically permanent, which is more than likely the actual purpose of the device to begin with.

8. It is a fair bet that
... the authorities will use just about any weapon they have at hand to preserve their power, especially those weapons billed as 'non-lethal'.

The development of this weapon is a textbook example of why the army should not be given any mission other than land warfare. Putting the army in charge of "nation building" and other actions where hostile crowds may be faced means parts of the defense budget will be dedicated to building crowd control devices, conducting pyschological warfare against civilians, etc.

I may be incorrect in my assumption, but my gut feeling is that a project like this would not have gotten off the ground had DoD not been backing it.

Cheers

6. what about people who are too close?
what about people with heart conditions or other health issues? - the shock of this attack combined with the inability to flee fast enough if you are near the front of a large group frightens me.... Pregnant women? How has this been tested? What were the negative impacts? They wouldn't have insisted on more testing unless they had "unexpected" results....

10. There is one thing we can all be sure of.
If this government of traitors, liars and thieves stays in power, this weapon will end up being used far more ofen at home on the people of America who dare to show that they can think for themselves than it ever will be used overseas on foreigners.

Before long it won't be insurgents being fried, it will be Democrats.

But there is a silver lining to every cloud. At least it might kill the Tularemia germs.

Crime Family, Illuminati and Bilderberg. I read a long article called "Microwaving Iraq", It sounds like a similar machine has been already been inducing pain and creating pschotic responses with the Iraq people AND our soldiers!!!

how many animals did they test with this? Well I don't really want to know, but I'm sure these creeps got off on it. This will probably kill anyone that it hits. This is really insane shit. Now imagine this used on the troops? Would a mirror deflect this?

23. What happens when it hits a foil shield and bounces microwaves back?
Hope the riot police around the Hummers carrying this thing are wearing some protective gear, because a 5 ft tall piece of plywood with a handle on the back and coated in aluminum foil would act like a medieval shield and reflect the microwave beams right back towards the projector.

Then all hell breaks loose when the riot cops get burned by their own weapon.
