Rep. Janklow's Driving Record Unsealed

Some evidence prosecutors want to use in the manslaughter case against Rep. Bill Janklow was unsealed Tuesday, including a driving record listing seven accidents and 12 speeding tickets.

But Circuit Judge Rodney Steele also ruled that other evidence may bias potential jurors in advance of the South Dakota Republican's trial. It will remain sealed for now.

Steele also unsealed documents dealing with a reported near-miss at the same intersection last December involving Janklow.


In that case, a woman reported that someone driving a vehicle matching Janklow's went through a stop sign and nearly hit her family's pickup. She later found out it was Janklow but didn't press charges.

i live in SD, he held public offices as long as i can remember and ive dispised his polocies for equally as long. hes been in the accidents before, and he reuses excuses like 'a white bronco in my path' or something to that effect, repetedly. and hes notorious for getting officers friendly to him on the scene before the scene is allowed to be processed. as somone who has grown up under janklow's polocies with better funding for prisons than schools. i can firmly say this man is evil, but smart so he cant use the bush excuse.

dont even get me started on Leonard Peltier's case on how janklow denied due process to him.

Laura ran a stop sign and killed her boyfriend. As luck would have it, she didn't even get a ticket for running the stop sign. Imagine that.
Oh. Well, yes. There was something about her family's connections in Midland at the time. Don't know if that had anything to do with her getting away with manslaughter or not. I suppose it could have.

No Janklow thread should be allowed to air without the word RAPE.

I'm from South Dakota, which I dearly love, though I left many years ago and am not really familiar with Janklow. However, I recently spoke with a close friend who works on an Indian reservation. She told me that everyone there KNOWS "he raped that girl."

There are some extraordinary rednecks in South Dakota; I'll never forget the hatred they harbored for George McGovern.
