Wal-Mart gets 'target letter' from feds
http://memphis.bizjournals.com/memphis/stories/2003/11/03/daily8.html

Wal-Mart Stores is a target of a federal investigation into immigration law violations, and has received a "target letter" from the U.S. Attorney's office in Williamsport, Pa.

The letter follows the arrests Oct. 23 of some 250 Wal- Mart workers in 21 states. No individual Wal-Mart employees have received target letters, according to the company.

<snip>

The raids last month centered on floor cleaners employed by Wal-Mart contractors, but 10 of those arrested were Wal-Mart employees hired as the company moved to bring its floor cleaning in-house.

1. thanks Mr. Ashcroft for targetting defenseless
poor immigrants. You show them how we enforce the law, how tough you are. Wait, what about Osama? Oops, you forgot again...

2. Go Get'em
While I feel exceptionally bad for the folkes that were just looking for work and trying to get a piece of the American Dream, anything bad for Wal Mart is good for the rest of the world.

3. Wal-Mart gets 'target letter' from feds
Does that mean that Target will get a "wal-mart" letter
from the feds?

Just kidding.
This regime will go after the most helpless members
of society, as Michael Moore has pointed out.
Rather than seeing them go after poor folks just
trying to scrape by in the world, I want to see
them go after the big cheeses at WM, who take advantage
of the situation to avoid hiring more expensive 'Merkans.

I have no confidence that they'll go after the big boys.
It would go against everything the BFEE stands for:
gov't of, by, and for the corporations.

5. Walmart sucks, I hope this costs them a lot of money
Anything bad for Walmart is good for Target, Meijer and K-Mart, the latter two being Michigan companies and we need more business successes.
