Huge weapons cache found
http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20031105-042937-3287r.htm

<snip>
Soldiers also discovered two rifles, eight fragmentation grenades, a machine gun, one rocket propelled grenade launcher, 300 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and three rounds of 14.5mm anti-aircraft ammunition.
<snip>

LOL... So HUGE they had to include the above paragraph. From the fair and balanced Washington Times.

2. It depends on how big those blocks of explosives were...
if they were 2 ounce blocks, that's a pretty small cache. If they were 100 Kg each, that'd make a pretty big boom. Now the det cord....yo can do fun stuff with that.....ummm...never mind.... ;-)

about 8 rifles, a couple of shotguns, 4 handguns and I have no idea how much ammo.

6. "Huge weapons cache", my ass!
Hell, the sheriff busted a guy in Wichita, KS a couple of weeks ago for having 75 machine guns in a bunker, and all he got was community service.

More ace reporting from the Moonie Rag.

Why would we be so desperate for news that the Times needs to report that crap?

ok, I went a little overboard with the RPG - my sister simply would not allow that...

9. I must say
I am impressed, this copy has all the feeling of... wait for
it, yep, the Five O'Clock follies

And yes depends on the size of the blocks, but this also has
that unmistakable feeling of the Five O'Clock follies during the
height of the Nam war... I wonder can we get General Westmoreland
to write some of the copy?

Oh and don't forget taht ammo is NATO... makes me wonder hey
Rummy what ELSE did you sell Hussein in the 1980s

12. WMD? What's that?
All I know is that since Saddam parachuted from the plane before it hit the WTC, we have decided that we must improve the lives of all who live above oil. Even if we have to kill them to do it.

11. This is huge compared to what?
Definitely not compared to the MILLIONS of pounds of unguarded munitions in dozens of miles-long ammo dumps scattered across Iraq. This is a friggin drop in the bucket compared to what else is scattered around there. They could be using up TONS of explosives PER DAY and still have enough to last the suicide bombers for decades!

Damn, 300 rds of ammo, is that all? I have ~2000 rds of in my ammo locker at home.

14.  33 blocks of "dangerous" explosives
Well see these were "dangerous" explosives as opposed to the safe kind. Don't they have editors at Moonie Times? A high school English teacher would redline that redundancy (At least the ones I had would have).

Highly Flammable Gasoline as opposed to the non-flammable sort, Round Circles as opposed to circles which are not round, Creepy Mooney as opposed to the un-creepy sort. etc. etc.

17. WT hoping people think WMDs found?
Why would they sieze on this one cache of weapons? The army must be finding caches like this almost daily. It appears that the Moonie Times is hoping people read the headline and think WMD - no they wouldn't be that transparent would they?

35. Me too
The 33 blocks of explosives, 98 feet of detonation cord, 20 blasting caps and the munitions used in explosive devices were significant.

The two rifles, fragmentation grenades, machine gun, rocket propelled grenade launcher, 7.62mm ammunition, rounds of 14.5mm anti-aircraft ammunition were an after thought.

26. Please get your troops out now, if they find another one like this...
the USA will be history pretty soon. I heard that the Pentagon has some weapons, too, but they can't compete with this.
Or, if you can't manage to get your troops out, what about sending Ted Nugent there, the last hope of the free world.
Greetings from Germany,
Dirk
