this may be the news channels trying to grab attention.

No one has actually communicated with them yet, they've just found evidence that the men were not buried outright and that they moved to another location.
That's very encouraging, but they're not out yet.

I'll give up a Halleluja when they're above ground again.

15. Covered earlier in the news this p.m.
Sago Mines (company involved here) had 86 citations for safety violations in 2004 - and 250 in 2005.

I guess when the miners and their families sue for the hell they've gone through (which could have been avoided if the safety citations had been addressed) Bush will declare it one of those 'frivilous lawsuits' that's dragging down the judicial system ...

18. I think there was only 1 other and he was found deceased.
So this would be all of rest.

In a lot of places their odds would've been so much worse (putting aside that it's not good they got put in this position in the first place given the safety violations at this mine).

22. Mr. Helms, apparently, did not survive, He was the fire boss.
His neice was just interviewed on CNN. She will be IDing the body in the next hour. The WV Gov. will go with her. The family has suspected he was the one from the beginning because of his job and where he went in the mine and his duty to start certain equipment.

God bless the fallen miner and his family. :cry:

at the mine car and their personal stuff was still in the cars.

news before I snooze,and prayers are with the one miner's family they said earlier was dead. Happy homecoming for those 12 but rememberance of those that died......

I'm so fucking sick of exclamations that "God was with us" or "God shined upon us" whenever there is some good turn of events. The miners survived due to a combination of sheer luck and their training...nothing else.

If it was such a fucking "MIRACLE," then I guess the God decided that he couldn't let it be a complete miracle. He had to kill one of the miners, so it didn't look too miraculous...is that the reasoning? Sheech...

However, when CNN asked a woman whom they billed as a "coal miner's daughter" if she was surprised that they were alive, she said, "No, we have good crews in West Virginia." No reference to God, just a realistic assessment of what happened. Meanwhile on FOX's News Alert: "Church Bells Ring as Miners Found Alive."

Don't get me wrong: it is GREAT news. But most of us don't know enough about this stuff to proclaim it a miracle, and the MSM has a vested interest in saying that it is....

On the radio, the announced said that "there was very little hope of the miners being found alive, becuase there were very high readings of carbon monoxide."

I'm not sure how they even survived! 80 meters down, and only breathing carbon monoxide.
