Governor draws ire of GOP
By Edward Barrera, Staff Writer

Local legislators know that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to move to the left politically this year but they don't know just how far left. The answer to that question will begin to be answered today during the governor's State of the State address in Sacramento.

Republican legislators have already braced themselves for the governor to push an ambitious agenda such as a multibillion-dollar infrastructure bond, minimum wage increase and a hike in education spending, but they hope fiscal responsibility will not be thrown to the wayside.

"I think he has to draw the line on new taxes," said Assemblyman Bob Huff, R-Diamond Bar. "The Democrats' solution is to grab from the money tree and that money tree is us.

"I hope that Arnold won't lose touch with the base that got him where he is, the ones who made the phone calls, raised the money, walked the precincts," Huff said. "Unless he screws them, they will do it again in the next election."

Edited on Thu Jan-05-06 08:06 AM by ixion
:wtf:

Why the hell are repugs, who have shown over the course of the last 5 years that they are ANYTHING BUT fiscally responsible? Can you say record deficit? I thought you could.

We need to stop allowing them to use this label, because the neoconservatives are not fiscally responsible in the slightest.

10. They know NOT of the real reasons of taxation...it is the only way of
collective power for the people to invest in their Land, Homes, Society, etc. The preponderence of fruits from the Money Tree used for Defense is a sign of abuse/waste/corruption/etc.... For a Super Power that we claim to be...we are showing signs of being Super Dumb.... a hint is Dumbo in the Oval Office...canardly ride a bike for gods sake....

6. Five years.....
Any time they get their hands on power they raid the cookie jar as fast as they can, shoveling all the money available to themselves and their cronies leaving a few crumbs left for the 90% of us who don't "count".......

8. What the repukes really mean is, "let's hope he doesn't give money
to the social justice causes because if he does we won't get any of it for ourselves." Wealthy repukes cut taxes on themselves then milk the treasury spending on themselves.
