Graham on 'short list' for VP spot
Dean is on fire, and he's friggin amazing!

...Dean said Graham, who dropped out of the presidential race Oct. 6, "was the candidate I felt closest to" in joint appearances.

"I told Bob Graham the day he made the decision to drop out (of the presidential race) that he would be on the short list, and he is on the short list," said Dean. "He is one of the greatest public servants in the United States."

http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/7184542.htm

...Dean explained that Democrats can appeal to conservative Southern voters the way Franklin Roosevelt did - by attacking Republicans on taxes, lost jobs and health insurance.

"What are these people doing, voting for a president of the United States who gave a $26,000 tax cut to the top 1 percent, when they don't even make $26,000?" Dean said. "We need to put back the coalition that FDR had together, because when white working people and black working people and brown working people vote together in this country, that's when we have social progress.

"We have got to stop having our elections in the South based on race, guns, God and gays - and start having them based on jobs and health insurance and a foreign policy that's consistent with American values."

1. Edwards is going to go banana's when he reads this:
Edited on Wed Nov-05-03 11:47 PM by Vis Numar
Tiger Bay Club president Janet Hinkle told Dean he doesn't need to "whistle Dixie" when campaigning in the South. The political luncheon club presented him a NASCAR poster, an FSU ball cap and an empty beer can to carry around.

Yea, John "the last thing we need in the South is somebody like you" Edwards, we wouldn't want to elect someone who actually addresses the nations problems of prejudice, would we Zell </sarcasm>.

Graham
Clark

Probably a few others, depending on how much history we want to make
(e.g., Boxer).

5. I would rather Clark than Graham, but we'll see
Dean will need a Southern VP.

6. And extra agreement on Dean being on fire
It's like watching Bobby Fischer move in for the kill, seeing this guy (and his right-hand man Trippi) operate. It's a sheer pleasure to watch a campaign carried on like THIS. Even when Dean makes a "verbal gaffe" it backhandedly helps him in some way.

If you're watching this campaign on the tactical level, you've got to be impressed.

7. Should Dean win the nomination, he could choose between...
Graham, Clark and Edwards. Any of the three would be a dynamite matchup!

13. No Edwards
He is no longer a in the running. His vicious attack on Dean will not be soon for got. It was a phoney atttempt to bring Dean down, and Dean knows it.

8. How about this Southern Governor?
Governor Mark Warner from Virginia! I heard this rumor at the pools last night from someone active in the Dean campaign (currently a volunteer, soon to be on the payroll).

10. Graham would be an
excellent choice except for his age. It would seem you would want someone who can run and win 8 years after your 8 year term. I believe and correct me if I'm wrong, that would put Senator Graham around 74-76 years old in 2012. I still am not sure why he dropped out so early, he had some really important things to say and I would have liked to have heard them. Now we'll probably never know what pissed him off some much.

14. He dropped out because of $
"I still am not sure why he dropped out so early, he had some really important things to say and I would have liked to have heard them. Now we'll probably never know what pissed him off some much."

Because he ran out of donors, and his money was fleeting. He couldn't afford to spend it all. Each candidate is allowed to spend his campaign money even up to two years after his election or campaign has ended. Graham was basically out of money and it was time to hang it up.

15. I believe that if Gore had chosen Graham
for a running mate instead of Holy Joe, we wouldn't be in this mess now. Florida would have been unlosable.
