The lawmaker asks appeals court to reject Jim Ellis' launder indictment

Copyright 2006 Houston Chronicle Austin Bureau

AUSTIN - U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay on Friday asked the 3rd Court of Appeals to throw out a money-laundering indictment against one of his co-defendants.

DeLay's lawyers filed a "friend of the court" brief in a case involving Jim Ellis, the director of DeLay's Americans for a Republican Majority.

Ellis and Texans for a Republican Majority Executive Director John Colyandro were indicted on money-laundering charges in September 2004 — almost a year before they were reindicted along with DeLay.
(snip)

DeLay's court filing notes he "stands charged with the same conduct and crime" as does Ellis.

A favorable ruling for Ellis would give senior District Judge Pat Priest reason to reconsider his ruling upholding the money-laundering indictment against DeLay.

1. Sounds less like standing up for a co-defendant
and more like an end around.

4. LOL... Bugman sure doesn't want that Ellis guy testifying against HIM
and if the Ellis guy continues to be a criminal defendant, he may turn, or something.

5. "Don't help me. Thanks. That'll be fine. Great. Um, I'll be fine. Really"
Now, take a look at this beaut from freeperville:

"It's infuriating. Every time an effective Republican politician arrives on the scene, the dimmed party methodically destroys them, one after the other. If Jesus Christ was a Republican they would crucify Him again."

9. Depends on what your definition of "effective" is.
Murder is very effective at getting rid of an obnoxious person, but I wouldn't advocate murder.

10. Once again,
we see just how blind the freepers are. No way would Jesus ever be a Republican - it's the antithesis of everything he stood for! Did you fall over laughing when you found that post at FR?

I've got my devices darling. Machinery too..."
