UN peacekeepers attacked - Congo
Congo - Unidentified militiamen attacked the headquarters of the UN peacekeeping mission in eastern Congo with assault rifles, wounding at least one Bangladeshi soldier, a mission spokesperson said on Thursday.

Peacekeepers returned fire during the three-hour attack late on Wednesday in the eastern town of Bunia, UN spokesperson Leocadio Salmeron said.

The Bangladeshi soldier was shot in the leg and his injuries were not life-threatening, Salmeron said.

"We can't yet say who attacked," Salmeron said. "And we don't yet know how many victims there were on the side of the assailants."
