Bush says reforming Iraqi gas subsidies necessary (sticking it to Iraqis)
http://today.reuters.com/investing/financeArticle.aspx?type=bondsNews&storyID=2006-01-10T160253Z_01_WBT004511_RTRIDST_0_BUSH-ENERGY-IRAQ-URGENT.XML

WASHINGTON, Jan 10 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Tuesday reforming Iraqi gasoline subsidies was a necessary step for economic reform.

"Until recently government subsidies put the price of fuel in Iraq at artificially lower prices, really low prices," Bush said. "Changing these subsidies is a necessary step on the path for economic reform."

...short blurb...

IIRC, prior to the US invasion, Iraqis were not subsidized and their cost was about 25 cents per gallon.

6. Iraqi Unemployment Rate Reaches 70%
http://www.countercurrents.org/iraq-janabi260704.htm

A study by the college of economics at Baghdad University has found that the unemployment rate in Iraq is 70%.

The study says the problem of high unemployment is going from bad to worse, with the security situation deterioriating and the reconstruction process faltering.

Private employment agencies - a new phenomenon in post-Saddam Iraq - are cropping up across the country and advertising their "services" through the mass media.

<snip>

The number of people out of work in Iraq has been on the rise since the then US administrator Paul Bremer disbanded the Iraqi army, security organisations and the Ministry of Information - a decision that made hundreds of thousands of people unemployed at the stroke of a pen.

7. Can IMF riots be far behind?
"artificially lower prices, really low prices,"

really low prices for a really poor country...much better to have execs from Texas set the TRUE Iraqi marketprice...

With invading a mosque and now skyhigh gas prices, it would appear that the US really does intend to stay forever in 'chaotic' Iraq

10. Who died and made him Queen?
Hey George, you can't even run this country. What makes you think you're in charge of the world?

Was a fuck up. Still is one. Never even ran a company successfully let alone a country. Now he's Queen of the World.

WORST PRESIDENT EVER.

Impeach his sorry ass.
