In his actual remark...he's just acknowledging reality, and saying he wants to reach out to people who SHOULD be voting Democratic, for their own good, but are deluded into thinking Democrats "don't represent them". And I DON'T think somebody like Al Sharpton should be allowed to hold the rest of the field hostage to what HE wants...after all, he's not exactly pure himself in the "needing to appologize" department! :eyes:
I actually agree with Richard Cohen of the Washington Post on something. Cohen noted in his post-forum column that Dr. Dean, when confronted by Sharpton demanding an appology of him, should have wheeled toward Sharpton and said, in typically quick Dean fashion, "You first". I actually wish he would STILL do this, as it would accomplish the twin purposes of shutting Sharpton up on this trivia, and moving the candidates on to things they SHOULD be debating--like rescuing the economy, Iraq and stopping PNAC, the solvency of Medicare, the environment; you know, little issues like those...:eyes:
I just hope, and pray, that the South Carolina primary doesn't degenerate into one big debate over the Confederate battle flag on the state capitol grounds in Columbia--if it does, we're wasting our time--and giving Dub more time to spread his lies unchallenged by our candidates. And that would, indeed, be a travesty!
