White House Promises More Facts About Uranium Claim
Edited on Thu Jul-17-03 10:19 PM by kskiska
Administration officials acknowledged yesterday that their damage control efforts over President Bush's use of tainted intelligence have been inadequate, and said they plan to put out additional facts in coming days.

(snip)

"People have been challenging the president's credibility for partisan political purposes," a senior administration official said. "There's nothing that gets this White House more in battle mode than that. We have no idea how long it will last."

The White House yesterday sent Republicans on Capitol Hill a sheet of talking points titled "Why Saddam Hussein Was a Grave and Gathering Danger" and reprising evidence about the former Iraqi president's arsenal of weapons of mass destruction. "We are only beginning to uncover the truth about the Iraqi regime," the sheet says.

Vice President Cheney told House Republicans on Wednesday that Mary Matalin, who has been a Republican National Committee consultant since leaving his staff in January, is helping shape communications strategy. Cheney made the remark as he urged a more energetic defense of the president. Cheney's office is likely to be a focus of congressional inquiries.

Also on Wednesday, House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) urged GOP members to go on television and be aggressive about "taking it to" the Democrats by focusing on "the big picture" of the war against terrorism, aides said.

2. "People have been challenging the president's credibility..."
...because, by his own words and actions, he has demonstrated that he has no credibility...

4. WH promises even more of the same old shit
When did they ever STOP telling us how much of a threat Saddam Hussein was? That's how they answer every single question, whether it's about Saddam Hussein or not. Bob Schieffer got fed up with Condi last Sunday when she went off on that, interrupted her and said "can we get back to the matter at hand please."

11. Lies+lies+lies = truth
This reminds me of the Nixon White House, and the many times it put out a new version of their version of the Watergate scandal.

5. Partisian reasons
I am so fucking sick of this bullshit. (Please pardon my vulgarity.)

It's just a matter of law and order criminalizing a blowjob but should we dare question the rationale for sending troops to their death, well that's just brazen party politics and shame on you.

Damn I wish that the Dems would really "take it to" the Repugs just once. Just stop apologzing for being the minority party and do your job as the loyal oposition. Failure to do this is an affront to our Constitution and the separation of powers.

10. Why don't they just TELL THE TRUTH?
The White House yesterday sent Republicans on Capitol Hill a sheet of talking points titled "Why Saddam Hussein Was a Grave and Gathering Danger" ...

In effect, they're telling us they need to make up a story for us! This is so lame.

We invaded in 2003 because we were told that Saddam had WMDs and was a threat to the US in 2003!!!

Don't let them get away with the bullshit that is about to hit. Heard Graham (House manager) bring up this bullshit on Hardball.
