Arabs recognize Bush's pro-democracy message, but doubt his intentions

ME responses to Bush speech.

Many people across the Middle East agreed with President Bush's call Thursday for greater democracy in the region, but they reacted coolly to backing a message from a U.S. leadership seen as siding unfairly with Israel and fomenting war in Iraq.

"Bush is reading the situation correctly -- there is a great need for greater democratic reform across the Middle East," said Gehad Auda, a political scientist at Egypt's Helwan University.

"But nations like Egypt would not like the idea that they are being singled out (by Bush) to make broader reforms."

<snip>

There was no official reaction, and little response from the masses, since Bush's speech came just after dark when Muslims were breaking their daylight fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

<snip>
"We've had a constitution here in Kuwait for 40 years, but I'm sure none of our parliamentarians know anything about it."

That last quote could could be said about Asscroft and our constitution as well.

1. Beware of Totalitarian Emperors promising freedom
They Lie. Bu$h Lie$. Everyone but the Goebbels v2.0-brainwashed Imperial Amerikan subjects knows that.

If Bu$h says he is bringing democracy and freedom, you can be sure he is working to bring in another wave of brutal dictators.

The whole world knows that, too.

2. This I fear is the message that will come down as what Bush was
all about. People will wish to tack this on to Bush so has to make what he has done legit. Sorry but I just see it is going to happen just like he turned up as Prez when he did not get the most votes. He falls into things.People do not wish to think they live in a country that does not have high ideals so they will put this in the way they can live with. We went in to free people.Look at what these people say about how WE saved the world in WW2. WMD will go by the way side and saving the world will start coming out.I am already hearing it from a few people.Same as Reagon 'won' the cold war and we know he just was the prez when wall came down. We had been fighting that fot 40 years.I am saying our 'Freedom loving George' has landed on the flight deck once more.
