AG seeks Schwarzenegger's aid on review of groping allegations

SACRAMENTO (AP) - California Attorney General Bill Lockyer said Thursday that he advised Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger that allegations the incoming governor had groped women "are not going to go away" and he should cooperate with an independent investigation.

Lockyer said he spoke with Schwarzenegger as recently as Wednesday about the charges that surfaced during his gubernatorial campaign that the former actor had behaved boorishly toward women in the past.

The allegations won't go away "until he is willing to have some form of independent, third-party review of those complaints to see if there's any criminal liability or not," Lockyer said.
