Bombs Target Four Iraqi Churches; 3 Dead
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Car bombs exploded in a synchronized spree of attacks outside at least four churches in Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk within a short period, killing at least three Iraqis and wounding nine, police said.

Col. Birhan Taha said that three civilians were killed and one wounded in an attack on the Church of the Virgin in Kirkuk at 4:30 p.m.. Fifteen minutes earlier, another car bomb exploded outside an Orthodox church, wounding six civilians.

Both cars were detonated by remote control, Taha told The Associated Press.

In Baghdad, a car bomb detonated at 4:10 p.m. outside the St. Joseph's Catholic church in the eastern Baghdad suburb of Sina'a, wounding two people, said Maj. Qusai Ibrahim.

1. Iraqi Christians lived in safety under Saddam
Now they are viewed as infidels by the Shia extremists. This is not the first attack on Christians since the US invasion, but it is the first time that such attack makes the MSM headlines.

2. Interesting
I find it fascinating that republicans are lauding the Iraq war, as fundamentalist Islam replaced a toothless secular dictator.

4. Not the first time it's made headlines.
There have been a few bouts of anti-Christian/communalist violence that have made relatively large headlines.

And it's not just Shi'ites that view them as infidel; it's just that Xians tend to not live in the wilds of Sunni-dom due to "accidents of history". Some things cut across sectarian boundaries.
