BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A top Pentagon (news - web sites) architect of the U.S.-led war on Iraq (news - web sites) was in Baghdad on Friday as a panel of experts warned that Washington had three months to create law and order or risk descent into chaos.



President Bush (news - web sites) and British Prime Minister Tony Blair (news - web sites) defended the war on Thursday, as an audiotape attributed to ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) called for a jihad, or holy struggle, to oust occupying troops.


In a speech to the U.S. Congress, Blair said history would forgive the United States and Britain for invading Iraq, even if they were proved wrong about the threat from its suspected weapons of mass destruction.


"If we are right, as I believe with every fibre and instinct of conviction I have that we are, and we do not act, then we will have hesitated in the face of this menace when we should have given leadership. That is something history will not forgive," Blair said in what was billed as one of the most important foreign speeches of his premiership.

Reminds me of a story where a man knocks a bees nest off the top of a building, injuring many of the honey bees who were simply minding their own business.
