Suit Claims NSA Illegally Wiretapped Attorneys

PORTLAND -- A lawsuit filed Tuesday asked a federal court to shut down electronic surveillance by the National Security Agency.

It alleges the NSA illegally wiretapped conversations between the director of an Islamic Oregon charity and two of the charity's attorneys.

A chapter of the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, a defunct Saudi Arabian charity, was established in Ashland in 1997 as a prayer house that also distributed Islamic literature.

The chapter was indicted in February 2004 on tax charges alleging it helped launder $150,000 in donations to help al-Qaida fighters in Chechnya in 2000.

This was the top story in my local news tonight. Says the government has 60 days to respond, on the "fast track" to trial as soon as June. They showed bits of the document, it was nice seeing the words unconstitutional, and illegal.

It's so nice to see them in writing or hear them spoken out loud.

All the evidence obtained illegally makes the whole case illegal.

Therefore, Bush has been the alleged terrorist's best ally by claiming he didn't have to abide by the law. Very interesting to see how this turns out. Attorney-client privilege is one of the most basic tenets of our system.
