Tens of Thousands Protest Bush India Visit
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 08:21 AM by leftchick
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/india_us_protests

NEW DELHI - Tens of thousands of Indians waving black and white flags and chanting "Death to Bush!" rallied Wednesday in New Delhi to protest a visit by President Bush.

Surindra Singh Yadav, a senior police officer in charge of crowd control, said as many as 100,000 people, most of them Muslim, had gathered in a fairground in central New Delhi ordinarily used for political rallies.

"Whether Hindu or Muslim, the people of India have gathered here to show our anger. We have only one message — killer Bush go home," one of the speakers, Hindu politician Raj Babbar, told the crowd.

Bush arrives in India later Wednesday for a three-day visit focused on strengthening the emerging strategic partnership between India and the United States. Dozens of protests have been planned by Islamic leaders and communist politicians.

32. Imus called Bush a loser or something like that today

I was shocked but he said "some of my staff may disagree with me but Bush is a loser."

That was a ray of sunshine until they started making thisclosetoracist jokes about Nagin.

3. * gives India our computer jobs, makes sure tons of Indians get
jobs in the US thereby destroying the computer programming business for Americans, gives them tons of other jobs from the US and they don't want him in their country. My question is - what is wrong with our country that we are going to let him back in? And how come the media shows 100,000 people demonstrations in India but not in the USA?

5. NPR Spin
:grr: I sent this to Morning Edition this morning:

Three times in your coverage of Bush's visit to India this morning Steve Inskeep referred to the anti-bush protests as "anti-American" protests. This is the worst kind of right wing spin and now seems commonplace on Morning Edition and All Things Considered. This is the sort of thing that has made me stop donating to Public Radio.

37. Keep after them!
Steve Inskeep is a blatant * whore. As for not donating, though, I think your local affiliate suffers as a result. Also, I think the RW wants NPR drowned in the bathtub anyway, so that puts NPR listeners like us between a rock and a hard place regarding the witholding of donations.
And welcome to DU! :toast:

7. Ironic, isn't it?
Bush creates tons of jobs in India due to outsourcing of American jobs, which has allowed people in India to live a better life than they otherwise would have.

And they don't want him to come for a visit.

The people he's actually created jobs for don't want him. Why the hell does he think the AMERICAN people want him? He's done nothing for us, except make our lives more difficult.

Without a doubt, George Bush is a miserable failure.

30. The nazis also stole the swastika from my people
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika

Are you going to call us nazis for having swastikas on our temples too? You would.

Just because the nazis had a generally perverted world view doesn't mean that using words they used is being like them at all. People used words like homeland/fatherland/motherland long before the nazis and will continue using them long into the future. There's nothing racist about calling India my motherland because that is exactly where my mother and father emigrated from.

Get a grip,

When I said motherland I meant India, not the U.S.A.

35. hold on to the pride
those opposing bush are being branded "commie losers" and "muslim fanatics" out here. the majority of the urban hindu middle class considers bush (unbelievably) as a "strong", "honest", "brave" leader. i gleaned such words from messages being flashed on television news - viewers texting messages from their phones to welcome the fucking monkey. its enough to make you want to puke.
for a majority of the urban hindus - bush is a champ coz he hates muslims. what can i say man? assholes like the company of shitheads.

14. Clinton's visit to India

Yeah you know Indians...we really hate America so much :sarcasm:

Why is it that everywhere Big Dog went, people love him and greet him with garlands. Everywhere W goes, people burn him in effigy and tell him better leave ASAP? Could it be because he's a corrupt criminal and a fascist? Maybe Indians love America more than Bushco does.

Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 04:46 PM by IsItJustMe
Wolf Blitzer spent about 5 seconds of coverage of this fact and then spent a minute on a poll that said that sixty some odd percent of the Indian people that live in big cities says chimp is a good friend of India.

:puke:

Blitz reminds me of the type of guy that moves the ball on a pool table when your not looking.

With this jacked up poll, all I can is put it where you want it Wolf.

31. Why don't Americans protest the asshole
Clinton was impeached with something like a 60% approval rating. With bush at 36% I would think there would thousands insisting he be impeached. Back when Clinton was President every Flea market or gun show you went to had dozens of anti Clinton bumper stickers or $3 bills with the Clinton's pictures on them, I have yet to see a anti-Bush sticker other than on DU.
