Gunmen kill 11 People ( 7 soldiers, 4 police) Northern Iraq (Samarra)

Gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in the northern Iraqi city of Samarra early on Thursday, killing seven soldiers and four policemen, a police source from Tikrit told Xinhua.

"Unknown armed men attacked before dawn a checkpoint manned by Iraqi police and army forces on the main road leading to Dowr town in northern Samarra," the source said on condition of anonymity.

Some of the victims were shot dead and others were slaughtered, he said.

1. I'm reading this correctly, eh?
.
.
.

The US is not the aggressor anymore

yeah I guess I'm a little bit slow here.

Other than the ShawkNawe thingie, and the Fallujah sorta slaughters,

The US is being "attacked" all the time now . . .

Has been for a while now

From the posted article:

"Insurgents frequently attack U.S. and Iraqi security forces in an attempt to cripple the U.S.-backed political process in the violence-shattered country. "

How does the US ever expect to win a "war" in a country where they are not wanted, certainly never "invited" to "help" another nation as in WW1 & 2

And the USA has lost major face all across the globe

"Mission Accomplished" alright

The beginning of the end of the USA as a superpower

The World will not miss you

You could have been a GREAT nation

(sigh)

2. "Dowr". Now *there's*
a name we haven't heard since Saddam was found outside of it. Not a huge place.

Isn't it the word for 'death', or at least have the same root, dwr?
