McConnel's (R-KY) Daughter Center of Controversy (Student abuse)
Edited on Fri Jul-18-03 10:42 AM by Nambe
Lexington Herald

More than a dozen parents have removed their children from an alternative, private school located in a rural upstate county amid complaints about disciplinary tactics by one teacher.

Claire McConnell, the daugh-ter of U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R- Ky., was accused of strapping one child into a chair with a leather belt, tying the hands of others and taping shut the mouths of some elementary school students, the Albany Times Union reported yesterday.

Parents said the tactics were out of character for the Hawthorne Valley School, a Waldorf school that designs programs to reflect the emotional, physical and intellectual development in children. ---

Reached in Washington, her father said, "I just heard about it this morning. I've not spoken with her, and I really don't know anything about it."

Bob Wohlfeld and DeeAnn Veeder, whose daughter had been tied to her chair when she wouldn't settle down, removed her after she finished second grade in June. "We were a little dumbstruck," Wohlfeld said. ---

1. Behavior she learned at home?
Is this how she was dealt with as a child? (It would figure.)

5. If that happened here
in a public school, that teacher would be gone so fast she would think she was in a tornado!

6. can't have been that bad
the parents removed their children from the school at the end of the year. if you thought your child was in danger of being hurt, wouldn't you remove them immediately, not waiting for the end of the year?

8. Somebody needs to go to jail.
If that doesn't break a bunch of state laws, the Feds should step in. Could you imagine of Hillary or Martha did that. They would have been executed by now.

9. WOW--like father, like daughter, huh?
And I guess ol' Mitch didn't know anything about all those special-interest bucks he's gotten from his lobbyist buddies all these years, either! :eyes:

This guy--along with Tom Delay, of course--is tied for "Biggest Jerk in Congress"!

And it's PAINFULLY obvious his daughter is keeping up the family tradition quite well. :puke:

B-)

12. This is nothing new for a McConnell...
About 8 years ago McConneell shoved a Lexington reporter to the ground during a press conference for asking too hot a question... McConnell is trash.
